He defended that well. A bit tougher to do that vs. the SGA’s of the world but there’s a lot to like there.

I say that and realize now - he really lumbers relative to how well Walker moves. Not sure if he's just tired but that's a real concern in terms of stepping out / guarding on the perimeter.

Kinda wish we held onto that Cavs pick this year. A guy like Kalkbrenner could be interesting in the late 1st / early 2nd (trade down). Would let us spell Walker while keeping the same height / length on the floor.

Game Thread Mar 19, 2025 07:00PM MT: Washington Wizards @ Utah Jazz

When is a win actually a loss? Stings to come up short in our biggest test of the season.

Is Isiah Collier finally our new Stockton?

Looking at the game from a 50,000 foot view I do wonder if we slowly revert back to a more traditional style of play, a la pass-first PG's and the big-man being more "en vogue." The small-ball era was fun and novel with the advent of the Warriors in the mid 2010's and clearly the league...

Ace should be 18.7 if my math is right. EDIT - My math is not right. 18.9.

    2024-2025 Tank Race

Jazz - Wiz Wednesday night. Biggest game of our season. Must-lose game at the crib. Can we pull off the L? After just getting fined for sitting everyone alive a few weeks back?

Dwill talks about his time in Utah

Zero debate, CP3 the “better player” and had a better career. But I agree that peak Deron Williams was better than peak Chris Paul. That ‘08 series where he single-handedly beat Denver was a beauty.

    Rookie Contract Power Rankings

Stylistically I agree. Many of Fox’s strengths are Collier’s same strengths. Isaiah just lacks the same true top-end explosiveness + vertical athleticism. Fox is so gifted in that sense.

Seems like a given he'd at least explore options to transfer up. He'd make a killing in NIL somewhere.

Holy crap - that Ole Miss - Arky game. How can you not be romantic about college basketball.

Gotta be a good sign for Flagg that he returned to the bench without 1) a boot and 2) ice (weird, tho - that would seem to be a no-brainer)

I just "can't" with this Big 12 Tournament. This court might give me a seizure.

Decent comp. And I think he went #12-#13 which seems "about right" to me for someone like Maluach. Would also say Lively's NBA production so far is "about right" for a raw guy picked #12. Just can't do the mental gymnastics required to put him in the top 5-8 where some folks have.

The potential is ridiculous, that's the only way I could justify something in the #7-#10 range, but he's just so far away. I can't recall a raw big who averaged something like 8 / 6 in college (in meaningful minutes) turning into a force at the NBA level. Maybe a guy like DeAndre Jordan?

Yates with 23 points tonight, big down the stretch, and played all 50 minutes in a double OT game. Really hope he returns to school but he’s certainly worth a look if he goes.

Utah Jazz fined 100,000 for violating league participation policy

The NBA has put itself in such a ****** spot here with this tanking issue. They haven't done nearly enough to disincentivize it proactively and these little slaps on the wrist are nowhere near punitive enough. No question Ryan / Danny would take 3-4 of these at least if it meant securing #2...

I'm going to disagree on this point. They're unrefined, clearly. But I see his attacking nature more as a reflection of 1) his confidence as a scorer and 2) the dude is fiery and goes really, really hard. I'd rather a prospect like that you have to rein in, teach, etc. than someone who is just...

Yeah, I think we're in the "nitpicking" phase of evaluating Bailey as a prospect. Missing the forest through the trees, so to speak. My only real gripe on his game is that it generally lacks some refinement across the board, vs. someone like Durant or Tatum in their freshman season. That said...
