I wouldn't be too concerned about back up C, the C market is going to be pretty cold compared to the rest of the FA market and I think we'll be able to find a serviceable backup C on a decent deal, or spend a bit more to get a 4 who can play spot 5 minutes with the MLE.
Jazzfanz and completely overexaggerating Exum for better or for worse is the most infuriating part of an otherwise fun forum to come talk Jazz basketball on.
Ed Davis
Jared Dudley (Jazz fans would love him after his humiliation of Ben Simmons in the playoffs but he's not really fit for a big load minutes wise anymore)
Taj Gibson
Kenneth Faried (maybe)
Rudy Gay
JaMychal Green
Both Morris twins
Bobby Portis (maybe)
Jabari Parker
Julius Randle (unlikely...
The thing about S&Ts (someone correct me if I'm wrong but I'm about 90% confident on this) is that you have to sign someone to 3(+?) year deal to make a S&T possible. Indiana is kinda known to do lots of 1 and 2 year deals as they don't want to be tied up cap wise/don't want to push luxury tax...
Pretty sure Powell is already confirmed to be getting a 3 year extension with the Mavs but I agree with the sentiment, he's really solid.
Speaking of Mavs though, I'm pretty confident if Favors goes to FA they'll be tripping over themselves to get a meeting with him. Luka/Porzingis/Favors could...
I don't know about bringing Joe off the bench necessarily but if Exum can come back and stay healthy, get some form back and run the bench unit like he was December last year... a bench unit consisting of something like Exum/Royce/Ingles/Bojan/backup 5 or Gobert could absolutely destroy opposing...
See I would have thought that too but after the Wizards just helped out the Lakers and got some bench guys + cash for no real reason (unless you're super high on Mo Wagner for some reason) I'm starting to question how much they really want to compete this year vs saving cash and tanking. Really...
Has anyone heard any news on Dedmon? Would be a fun MLE guy if the Jazz can't get Portis (assuming the Jazz would offer Portis the full MLE if they get Bojan).
Not saying this would be anywhere near my #1 target, but I kinda like the idea of getting Taj Gibson for a bench 4 who can start the occasional game against bigger teams and also play spot 5 minutes as a vet min guy if the Jazz strike out on most of the other PFs.
I'm not going to pretend I've watched many Pacers games outside of their playoff runs but from what I've seen in mainly the playoffs and what stats suggest he is:
- Great to elite 3pt shooter
- Proven to be able to carry scoring loads/get scorching hot for stretches of games in big playoff...
The one thing that I ****ing love about the potential Bojan signing is that unlike Conley who is a super steady hand, Bojan gives the Jazz another guy who can absolutely heat the **** up like Mitchell can and go on a 9-0 run by himself in the space of a couple of minutes. Jazz desperately needed...
Mainly because Kawhi played like 60 games if that (perceived to be coasting) + the Raptors were really ****ing good even without him in the regular season. Whereas the only reason OKC was good was because PG was going nuclear, as soon as his shoulder got injured OKC were awful.
They already declined Parker's option though, and I think that Portis would be a better bet than Jabari going forward but I know that's a point of contention.
