If Ainge makes a major move (and trading the cultural heart of the team would count as one), then we can be sure that Smith and Danny have already discussed it and are in agreement.
Smith isn’t going to bring anyone onboard and just hand him the keys to a contender
I don’t necessarily think Danny will be eager to shake things up in a substantial way. He could quickly put a huge target on his back and there’d be no scapegoat.
I wonder what Wade said to Ryan about this before it happened. If there’s an important zeitgeist about Danny amongst the players, I’m sure Wade had access to that intel.
I think Danny overplayed the “players as assets” style of management at Boston. Maybe that’s not true, but if it is, I hope he learned something about that.
I’m thinking of something more along the lines of what Cam Reddish provided for ATL last year in the playoffs. An athletic wing who can soak up minutes in specific situations to help swing a couple of quarters here and there.
I don’t think the jazz need to trade their most reliable secondary...
Pretty sure the conversations about our exploitable defense are referring to our meltdowns in the last two playoff series losses.... When, in fact, we were horrendously exploitable.
