Two ways this could be done.
1) Cap space+Warriors don’t match. The Jazz could create $18.7M in space by waiving Springer+Martin. They could create a little bit more depending on what they do with Anderson and Love.
2) TPE sign and trade. The Jazz should create about a $20M TPE from this...
The Jazz could turn into a late stage cap space team. They might be able to find a home for Anderson. Teams like SAC, ATL, and CHI all have exceptions available and could take him in on a one year deal. Haven’t looked at their tax situations though.
Love might just retire.
Anderson can still hoop. I wonder if there is a team out there with interest in him. Could fit into a lot of exceptions. But if he’s cooked, he’s a good vet to keep around.
Love might retire or want to get bought out. Either is fine, but he is also a good vet who loves Park City.
Could be….not expecting it though. A TPE lasts a year so it could be used at a later time for a RFA S&T or salary dump.
Realistically, this is just a huge money savings for UTA. The other option would have been waiving/buying out Collins which would have cost more. They also could have kept...
Anderson and Love combined make less than $14M. That is just a little bit more than half what Collins makes. So the Jazz have saved almost half of what Collins makes in money + whatever they could get back in potential buyouts.
Additionally, the Jazz should open up a TPE close to $20M. This...
It's really nice that we get some extra games. I suppose I don't really mind if he plays the SLC games. Brice seems like a very good leader for the group. He has clearly put in a lot of work over the years and seems to love playing. I don't mind rewarding him with some games before we go to Vegas.
Ace is closer to McDaniels than he is Durant. Like Jaden, the best way he can contribute immediately is turn into a defensive hustle guy. He's ahead of where Jaden was offensively, but he's not good enough to dominate the offense like he did in college. No NBA offense is going to stop so Ace can...
We're not gonna learn anything from Brice playing more. Open up the offense to get more opportunities for Cody+Ace and have more minutes to evaluate the end of roster battle between Harkless/Springer/Luis/Tonje.
It’s already started. The standard to get on the court is very high and the salary is going to be very low. I wonder how far it will go in this new CBA. We saw guys like Sexton get devalued, they are less than a full MLE. But I wonder what becomes of the Ja, Trae, Garland tier of players. Don’t...
Seeing a lot of fans online wondering why Ace Bailey didn't play a lot with the ball in his hands. This must be the first time they're watching him and they believed in the baby Durant hype lol.
I wish VJ would have gone to a team where he’d get more opportunity to expand his offense. He’s very rough around the edges as an imitator, but he has a lot of potential there. Think he will still be excellent in a smaller role with PHI, but he probably won’t get as much room to grow his offense.
Cody was active on both ends, showing some kind of motor is a good sign. Besides his frame/skill level, his low motor was a big question mark. Hoping he keeps it up.
Collier…he’s kind of the perfect PG for this and where we’re at. But where we’re at is a tanking team. It’s great to have a pass...
I think the drama surrounding Ace made people overlook who Ace the prospect. He’s a good prospect and I’d understand if you had him 3rd….but this is not a situation where he was for sure the 3rd, 4th, or even 5th best prospect and he only dropped because of the drama. I don’t think Ace dropping...
