That is the key question. I think he and Lauri would be great together and I would definitely pursue it if I were the Jazz. My guess is that the Pups will be looking for more than he is worth.
I am hoping Smith takes his passion for ugly uniforms and uses it on the hockey team and lets the Jazz go back to looking like an NBA team. Hopefully his success with building a winning franchise will be as great in the NHL as it has been in the NBA :D
It might work out but this is two years in a row of being gut punched - hard to stay motivated when you know you cant compete and the FO is fine with being really bad.
The way the FO has managed things I dont have any idea if Hardy is good or not. If he has an ounce of competitiveness he can't be happy with the hand he has been dealt.
You are right about the mistakes. It made zero sense to trade both Rudy and Donny - though one of them clearly had to go. Trading them both with a focus on draft picks instead of young talent made no sense. Trading them both and being caught in the middle 2 years in row made no sense. Blowing...
My guess is that he would have gotten the job and would have done very well. I agree he is fine but he has to wonder what if. Being in Boston over these last few years is a lot better than being in Utah.
You certainly dont wing it in a billion dollar business but this is far and above more opportunistic than planned. Danny has admitted it and having lived in 6 different NBA cities, I have never seen anything like this. Acting like there is a master plan is pretending at this point. As for...
Agreed. Danny has always been clear about being an opportunist and there never has been a plan that anyone can articulate. You might be right about moving Lauri but that would prove how ridiculous this entire process has been. You trade two all-stars, probably both HOF players and then you...
I have no idea what your threshold is for a "vet" but selling low and selling players that have good contracts and still plenty young to fit with adding assets with Lauri makes no sense whatsoever. And I have been saying on this board for several years that Ryan would not let Clarkson be...
If I am Lauri and you screw around one more year I want out and want out badly. Two years in a row being stuck in the middle and blowing it up before having chance for the playoffs is enough. IMO, the window for tanking is past.....and never needed to happen to begin with.
Clarkson has stayed in Utah for more than basketball reasons. He has an identity that is a big deal to Smith from an off the court image standpoint. As soon as Donny turned on the Jazz, Clarkson filled the space for Ryan. Many disagreed with me but I have stated multiple times that he was not...
