The NBA draft system is not ideal as far as workers' rights are concerned, but it is voluntary. The terms are clear. You put yourself up to work for the first team that picks you. If you wanted to pick your team the draft was NOT the right avenue to accomplish your goal.

The response to this by our MAGA friends is to "git good" essentially. Work harder. Do more than everyone else and they will make you a team lead and give you full time after you've been there a few years, plus a $1 pay rise.
That I don't know, but I do know that unskilled labor has no power and the primary way for an unskilled laborer to make more than min wage is to do a job that most people are not willing to do, for whatever reason. A cushy cash register job? Min wage for you and most will not hire full time...

Well the wrong skin color and either speaking Spanish or speaking English with an accent. We shouldn't have to be exposed to other languages in our own country!
And there is no incentive for a rookie to pout and play like **** just because they are somewhere they don't like. If they want to be worth anything in the league after their rookie contract they need to make the most of their minutes, regardless.
