We seriously need to revisit Burks at the backup PG

Besides the theoretical PGs, there are a lot of guys who handle the ball on this team, like Hood, Hayward, Joe Johnson, Ingles or even Diaw. Hence, putting Burks at the 1 should not be a problem at all, despite his low basketball IQ, because he would NOT be asked to actually run the team.

Better NBA career: Myles Turner or Trey Lyles?

Last night's game reminded me of this discussion. Do the people who voted for Lyles still hold the same opinion?

We should trade for Deron Williams

Good point, but I have to ask you to be as specific as you were before. If Deron's PER was analysed by you in reference to his position - and he was 27th in the league among PGs -, his FGA per 36 minutes have to be subjected to the same procedure. Can you tell us how Deron ranks in FGA per 36...

We should trade for Deron Williams

I agree with your assertion about PER and about where Deron ranks. My only problem with trading for Deron is that he shoots too much. He always loved to score and the Jazz team already has too much people inclined to shoot rather than pass (like Lyles, Hood, Joe Johnson).

We should trade for Deron Williams

Deron's PER during the last three seasons fluctuated between 15.7 and 14.6. You may call that "fairly efficient" if you want, but a score of 15 means league average.

Dante Exum's "BAD" play is being blown way out of proportion.

I think Exum's ceiling is Brian Shaw: https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/shawbr01.html Shaw was a big guard (6'6) with a quick feet for someone his size and a somewhat good court vision. He wasn't a typical PG of the 90s, as far as I remember, since he didn't seem to be able to get...

Dante Exum's "BAD" play is being blown way out of proportion.

I think I understood you, elan_prodigy, but I think that the main issue for Exum critics is that he is not a dynamic player offensively and doesn't show signs of being ever capable of running a team. Besides, his passive demeanor offensive - something that may be perceived as "softness" - makes...

What is the record for consecutive seasons increasing scoring average?

Nope. With a "fully healthy team" his usage rate would decrease.

    Exum was solid.

Exum is soft (or at least truly passive), very inexperienced and is coming from a major injury - one which still bothers him. It is very unlikely that he'll all of the sudden have an epiphany and think "Ohmygod! I've been doing this all wrong! From now on my focus and mindset will be completely...

SLC Stars Game Thread: Tonight @ 7PM Burks/Neto Gonna Play

While watching the game, I was wondering here how NBDL teams would fare against the top college teams. What you guys think?

the improbability of Joe Ingles' defense

Ingles is quick for someone of his height, I think. He is not athletic in any convencional way, of course, he is not explosive, but his reaction time seems great. Besides, he has a great wingspan and, perhaps more importantly, has been playing with a lot of focus on the defensive end.

Rudy Gobert in a class of his own as a rim protector

My main beef with basketball fans in general is that if their team gets - let's say - a low-post scorer, then "low-post scoring is the most indispensable aspect of a winning team", but if all of the sudden their low-post scorer leaves their team via free agency and that team drafts a...

Western Conference prediction game: where is that thread?

I was wondering how people were doing in that prediction game that someone proposed before the regular season started but I can't find that thread. Where is it? And can the creator update us on the results? Thank you. :)

    What is Rudy's ceiling?

Gobert's ceiling? How about Hassan Whiteside? Just kidding. I think a somewhat less physical (and durable) Robert Parish is his ceiling. I think he will always be a complementary scorer.

    Alec Burks

As I've said months ago: Burks is clearly the odd man out. Nevertheless, I don't think the Jazz management will trade him right away. They'll probably give Burks some burn no only to increase his value, but also not to risk that the fanbase ends up thinking that one of the players was dumped...

Exum needs to play over Mack

Guys, we don't even know if Exum's knee is not bothering him a little - which should be expected. A knee pain can easily make a player settle for jump shots, for instance, and even bother his jump shots. Besides, you guys might not agree, but I think the Jazz idea was to bring Exum along...

How strong is your support for Quin Snyder?

I am quite concerned about the defense also. I have watched about half a dozen games this season and the lack of aggression called my attention. I remember that in the Sloan days, the team used to count deflections and the players used to even compete against each other to see who could get the...

remember when our offense looked like this?

I don't want to sound pesty but your post made me wonder how can anyone be a huge fan of a coach who installs an offensive system that is really hard to watch? I would get it if you were a "fan" or a "fan with some reservations" - which is my case -, but a "huge fan"? To me, Snyder sounds smart...
