With Cavs being in 2nd apron it's near impossible for them to acquire Lauri. They can't aggregate players in a trade and their big tradable salaries such as Garland and Allen make less than Lauri. Don's extension kicks in for next season and will match Lauri's salary but they aren't doing that.
Not sure I understand all the lol's but yeah Philly and Milwuakee have bad contracts in Dame/PG, although that doesn't make Lauri's any better. Those teams made bad mistakes trying to add a #2 next to their superstar.
I'd trade Lauri for PG if Philly hands over their lottery pick which at this...
Be prepared to be disappointed because Tony Jones already leaked they currently have no intention of trading up.
Based on his tweets I'm going to believe they end up with either Ace or Tre...whoever falls to 5 assuming Charlotte picks VJ. Tony believes all 3 are in the same tier with similar...
I'll take a listen later on tonight.
With that said whoever takes on Lauri better have a bunch of cap flexibility. In hindsight Lauri probably shouldn't be making $46 mil next season especially when SGA will "only" be making $38 mil. Of the list above, Detroit might be the best fit as Cade is...
I would do this trade...might even throw in #21 if it's a deal breaker for them.
Hoping the Spurs aren't looking for a bigger fish such as Giannis with all their assets. Ofc it would suck to see Lauri in San Antonio but he's going to be at least 30 by the time Jazz are seriously ready to start...
There's a fairly steep drop after the top 2 in this draft. Harper does look like he could be a potential lefty Cade Cunningham. If the Spurs are willing to trade down to 5 I might not quibble too much by demanding extra picks (although I'm sure Ainge would likely try to do so). The fact is...
Assuming Ace and VJ are left on the board at 4 I could see the Hornets and Jazz swapping spots for a small price.
Hornets already drafted Brandon Miller so I could see them preferring VJ over Ace. If Ace gets past the 3rd pick I believe there's a fairly decent chance the Jazz can get him. If...
I'm hoping for Ace or even Maluach at this point.
They desperately need someone with length who possesses some skill. I'm assuming Lauri is not here long term. Last night's lottery result was the nail in the coffin for that outcome. I get what they were trying to do with the Hendricks and...
Agreed this team now has zero chance to compete during Lauri's timeline.
I'd be fine if they basically start from scratch by drafting #3 and #5. I imagine they would probably need to take back the PG contract in such a deal?
With Dallas at #1 and the Spurs at #2 either one of those teams...
What a major disappointment.
Anyway I think they somehow end up with Ace. Either he falls or they trade up a slot or two. Ainge basically started the Celtic rebuild drafting two SFs/big wings in Brown and Tatum.
The Spurs getting Flagg ruins it so I'd gamble on landing the top pick.
Actually I'm probably fine tonight as long as Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, or Portland do not land Flagg.
Depends on the return tbh. Obviously Lauri is better in a vacuum but if they can land a premium FRP + prospect they could consider dealing him I would assume. Locke certainly seems to believe they will be "tanking" again next season so it doesn't really make sense to worry too much about...
Disagree strongly. I would take any of the next 14 guys picked after Cody from that draft:
10. Jazz draft Cody Williams (Colorado)
11. Bulls draft Matas Buzelis (G League Ignite)
12. Thunder draft Nikola Topic (KK Crvena Zvezda)
13. Kings draft Devin Carter (Providence)
14. Trail Blazers...
He's apparently only signed to a 2 way for the remainder of the season and the Sixers have tax apron issues. Jazz could potentially sign him in the offseason if they really want. I'm a little wary of guys putting up numbers on a tanking team at the end of the season.
I did like him ahead of...
Even before last night's injury I was thinking Sexton probably doesn't get traded this deadline.
I read that article a few weeks back about the bond between Collin and Collier. They grew up in the same area of ATL and youngster Collier looked up to Sexton and watched him play HS basketball...
Maybe there's a chance he ends up back in ATL. They are 2-8 the last 10 games and Jalen Johnson is out for the season.
Sadly the Spurs own their FRP. Collins back to ATL makes a lot of sense and I'd donate Clarkson if it helps get their season back on track.
