    2024-2025 Tank Race

Former 2-way Jazzman Josh Christopher comes through with key backcourt violation that sets up Carrington's buzzer beater.

    Following Potential 2025 Draftees

I'm calculating that if the Jazz win tomorrow, their odds of this turning into a top four pick are about 1 in 218 (0.46%) -- based on a rough estimate of 45% chance of Wolves losing first play-in game, and 30% chance of losing second play-in game. (Of course your scenario--a Jazz win--also means...

Do you want the Jazz to win their last game against the Wolves?

If the draft is really 4 deep (and the difference between 5 & 6 is relatively small), that would be reason to win, not to lose. The odds of a top-4 draft choice don't change no matter what happens tomorrow. EDIT: other than what @gandalfe said a few posts above. (So the better way to say it is...

Do you want the Jazz to win their last game against the Wolves?

Do I have this right?: If Minny loses 3 straight games they're highly motivated and heavily favored to win (including against us, the worst team in the league, one that hasn't shown any signs of legitimate life for several weeks), then their pick for us will be a lottery pick (#14), and our...

I should give them more credit. The two Williams, Joe, and Wiggins are legit rotation players. The game is much slower for them than anyone the Jazz have at this point.

May not have much to worry about tonight. Even the scrubs for the Thunder do things right.

    Dillon Jones 30-point game incoming?

    Hendricks and Filipowski

Not sure what you mean by "similar" other than size and can hit a jump shot. To me, I'm hoping they can complement each other (as perhaps bigs off the bench). Filipowski definitely needs a rim protector in the lineup with him, and I want to see what he and Hendricks can do together.

Minny & Cavs 2025 picks watch thread

Minny's a very solid team that has had just enough growing pains and FAFO moments this season for us to maintain the illusion that we might have a real shot of getting them into the lottery. But they win almost all their important games. Even if they were to lose to Memphis in a play-in game...

Yeah, I understand that we want the Wolves in the play-in. Even though it probably won't matter, it's at least a ray of hope.

I know Sarr seems like a keeper, but don't know if they view him as the long-term 5. Maybe they'd rather have him, like he seemed to want, at least at one time, at the 4. Maybe Queen, as a "local" product would be hard to pass on? I don't really know.

Is this really what we think? I'd like to see more discussion on what we think the real difference between the 5th and 6th pick might mean for us instead of the seeming assumption (not necessarily by you) that there's a huge chasm between the value of picks 5 & 6 in this draft. On average, we...

Minny & Cavs 2025 picks watch thread

Isn't it even more complicated than this? I think the tiebreaker for draft position is not the same as tiebreakers for playoff position. So, if I'm understanding right, playoffs seeds are determined within this last week of the season and the play-in game. But any remaining ties in record...

76ers not in a real dire situation. Whether they win or lose very likely won't change their positioning at this point.

    2024-2025 Tank Race

Agree about the luck. And the tanking fatigue is real. But I don't think that getting trapped is as much of a danger as it's often laid out to be. Go compare what the Spurs record looked like in the years before they got really bad and lucked into Wemby with what we seem to have gotten ourselves...

I've seen enough over the years to know that there's just not much correlation between college crunch-time successes or failures and NBA success.

Slipping in the play-in games means that their pick would be in the lottery (though undoubtedly one of the worst two lottery positions)

We'll hope so, if we end up with one of them. I don't have the faith you do, but drafts always turn out with some differences from expectations.
