    The Lauri Thread

You are not being wrong but I think you are arguing a minor detail. My point was broader: Lauri never did anything to change his NBA trajectory of being stuck on bad teams. Players who truly want to play on better teams find a way to do it even when it costs them something: by taking less money...

    Gabriele Procida watch thread

Johnny is great for his price: always plays within himself, executes exactly what his coach wants, and never complains about his minutes... And he is only 24.

The FINAL COUNTDOWN - 50 Days to go

He actually has a pretty good point. Below is the full list of the lottery selections by the Utah Jazz in the last 15 years: Enes Kanter Alec Burks Shabazz Muhammed Dante Exum Trey Lyles Taylor Hendricks Cody Williams The list is pretty pathetic and does not include a single solid NBA starter...

    The Lauri Thread

I wasn't talking about the season "when Lauri was there". I was talking about the team that Lauri was traded to in the summer of 2021. He signed an extension as part of the sign-and-trade to Cavs, going to the 22-60 team. Lauri was OK going to a bad team, deep in the rebuild and certainly...

    The Lauri Thread

Why do you think Lauri is not OK with the continuation of the tank? His past history gives any indication that being on the winning team is a low priority to him. He never asked to be traded when he was on bad teams. Lauri signed his first extension with the god-awful Cavs in 2021 who had no...

Is the NBA Draft Lottery Rigged?

Since 1990 the Jazz had the cumulative 49.8% chance of getting the first pick. No surprise that they never did.

Is the NBA Draft Lottery Rigged?

The Lakers, Celtics and Knicks had many horrible seasons lately but last time any of them got the number one picks was 40 years ago. Historically, almost all "generational" NBA prospects went to small market teams with bad records: Shaq, Duncan, LeBron, Howard, Oden, AD, Zion, Wemby... You can...

    Why is Kessler shooting threes?

Yeah, this is probably the best explanation: Kessler is stupid and the coaching staff is gladly giving him an opportunity to try and fail. But that just highlights how important and desirable the 3-point shooting became lately. Kessler desperately wants to be one of the cool kids and launch...

    Why is Kessler shooting threes?

Maybe? So can you give me an example of a big shooting FT in the 40s and low 50s who all of a sudden "started shooting it well" from the three? Like, has it ever happened? And it is not simply "let him practice that, we are tanking anyway": Walter is clearly putting a lot of time and effort in...

    Why is Kessler shooting threes?

I mean, the guy is shooting 42% FT in March and he all of a sudden decided that THIS is the time to unlock his hidden long-range sniper? I understand why the coaching staff is cynically going along with it but why is Walter keep pushing for it in the first place?

    Why is Kessler shooting threes?

...when his FT% is at 53%? I looked at all 3-point shooters in the NBA with the 3PT% >34%: there are just a couple of guys with the FT% in the mid-60s and that because they are having an unusually bad year or/and shot very few free throws. They shot way better in previous seasons. I mean, there...

Cody Williams Hype and Appreciation Thread

Give it time. I listed the picks from 2016-2020 only because the players drafted back then had enough time to develop. We are just several months in the very first season for the 2024 draftees. Three years from now we would have very different opinions about many guys drafted in 2024. I...

Cody Williams Hype and Appreciation Thread

But realistically Cody was the 10th pick in a very weak draft, which equals to the 15th-16th picks in a regular draft. You rarely find an instant impact player in that range. 2016 - Juan Hernangomez, Guerschon Jabusele 2017 - Justin Jackson, Justin Patton 2018 - Troy Brown, Zhaire Smith 2019 -...

Cody Williams Hype and Appreciation Thread

Sometimes I get the impression that this site is populated by 12 year-olds who rate the players exclusively on the amount of points scored. Cody may not amount to much (it is never a guarantee with young players) but he will certainly have a place in this league. Because he plays defense, plays...

Cody Williams Hype and Appreciation Thread

You guys are such downers. Not everybody is developing at the same pace. Cody was drafted exclusively because of his athletic and physical gifts: he still has them and actually got noticeably stronger compared to his very first games. And Williams slowly but surely develops his skills: he really...

The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

No, it is not. These were ten games when the Jazz had to play tanking teams five times. Washington, Toronto, and Philadelphia are simply very bad on offense.

    2024-2025 Tank Race

The championship at-all cost crowd never stops to amaze me. I think a good number of those folks would be extremely happy if their favorite team was awarded the championship via the executive order. Mission accomplished! It's like the entire idea of competing hard, playing by the rules, always...

Cody Williams Hype and Appreciation Thread

Are you implying that the Jazz are trying to avoid being worse on offense?! They are full-throttle tanking and Walter Kessler is launching threes. Cody needs touches and opportunities to keep developing and that should be prioritized instead of feeding Svi and Juzang.

Game Thread Mar 16, 2025 05:00PM MT: Utah Jazz @ Minnesota Timberwolves

Juzang often looks simply being overwhelmed and outgunned by playing against starters on a good team like the Wolves. I think he is OK against bench players. But it is not simply about coaching. Keyonte and Flip involve other players, and Cody is trying too. And Hardy had several more passing...

Game Thread Mar 16, 2025 05:00PM MT: Utah Jazz @ Minnesota Timberwolves

Our guards except for Collier were so selfish: Brice, Svi, Juzang, Sexton. Just a hero one-on-one ball. They kept ignoring Flip (all the time) and Lauri (often). I really hope that over the summer the Jazz will get rid of some of these ballhogs and replace them with team players.
