Nurkic is Fat and Cant Run (Source: His Coach)

The real decision here was between waiving Sexton or trading for Nurk. Trading for Nurk keeps the option of trading his contract later instead of strictly dead money. But the extra roster spot+not having to trade a second may have been worth it. We'll see if the FO gets anything out of Nurk, but...

Nurkic is Fat and Cant Run (Source: His Coach)

There was a world in which Nurkic got in shape, played well, and earned one more contract. This world where he's indifferent to playing basketball and collecting his last NBA contract is ideal for the Jazz. It's one of the reasons why I've been interested in trading in him for awhile, he doesn't...

Nurkic is Fat and Cant Run (Source: His Coach)

Because Sexton's value is almost entirely negative. He takes minutes from young players and will win more games. It's incredible to me that people still can't wrap their heads around the idea that Sexton had no value to this Jazz team and no value to any other team in the league.

Nurkic is Fat and Cant Run (Source: His Coach)

Nurkic could be 400 lbs and he'd still provide more value to this franchise than Sexton.

    OKC as a blueprint

There is no such thing as a blueprint. Many good moves/ideas from teams who have not won, many poor decisions made by teams who did end up winning. All you can really do is make as many good as possible and have a lot of luck. Trying to copy another team as if a blueprint exists seems like a...

    Jazz trade for Niang

It seems as though we should have another C prospect on roster, at least as a two way. I'd like Flip to be able to split his minutes between the 4 and 5. He'll get some minutes with Kessler/Nurk, but I think it would be nice to have another C to fill in for those guys when they're out. Think...

    Jazz trade for Niang

Niang and Anderson are both players who could probably play regular season minutes on a good team. They are also well known good locker room guys (Nurkic could also be considered here, but depends on the locker room). They will deserve/take playing over the young guys. I don't think having the...

The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

I think what really happened is that they promised Fox this contract, which allowed them to get him for cheap, and forgot they literally win every lotto and didn't expect to land Harper. Still kinda surprised they weren't open at all to moving Harper. VJ and Kon would have been excellent fits there.

The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

It’s a blessing that the Spurs have decided to use a max “slot” on Fox. The list of players who would have wanted to play with Wemby for that kind of money is long and there are certainly better players than Fox on that list.

The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

I would normally agree, but it's pissing me off that the Mavs, Spurs, and Sixers get so much lotto lucks. Makes me not even want to root for the prospects even though I loved them predraft. They really need some kind of mechanism where if you win the lotto one year, it greatly increases or...

The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

The uncomfortable reality about the NBA is it's better to be lucky than it is to be good. You could also take the glass half full approach and say that even dumb franchises get lucky.

2025 Utah Jazz All-Time Bad Draft

That was exactly the guy I was thinking of. Michael Jordan himself.

2025 Utah Jazz All-Time Bad Draft

I'm no historian, but there is one wing player I'm surprised hasn't gotten drafted yet.

    Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Kuminga situation is a rollercoaster. Reportedly turned down 5/$150 (though some have suggested is wasn't all guaranteed), had his weird season, now has two teams offering him 4/$90 but they can't trade for him, and now he's deciding between qualifying offer and 2/$45M.

    Rookie Contract Power Rankings

DM is also a little different where he was actually a good defender once upon a time. Coming into the league he was a defensive prospect. In his case, it actually does come down to how much effort he's willing to put in. He has the skill, ability, talent, IQ ect to be a good defender. Key has...

    Rookie Contract Power Rankings

Key is actually a player I learned something from draft wise. I like him during the draft. I thought he could be more of primary and that his off the dribble jumper was a potential premium skill. All of that was actually right. But I was too quick to dismiss his defensive concerns and a big...

    Rookie Contract Power Rankings

Very rarely does the “sucks at defense but has the tools for defense” ever get much better. Yes defensive ability is tied to length and athleticism, but it’s also a skill like everything else.

The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

It's an interesting question. I wasn't super high on this 3-6 range of this years draft, so gun to my head I'd say that the NOP pick has a higher expected value than Ace. You get a shot at Booz/Dybantsa/Pete which I would put as clearly better prospects, and then I don't much about 4-10 next...

The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

The has sailed on Kessler->LAL most likely, but if LAL suddenly has future MIA picks I'm considering it for sure.
