The game was lost with 2:30 left in OT, the Jazz up 101-99 and Paul Pierce hits a wide-open 3pt off a pindown. KG set a solid screen on DeMarre and Al - who was in perfect position to help - did absolutely nothing and Pierce had all day to shoot. Ball game. Smart move though to save Favors (who...
Except for the fact that Sloan normally started his best players. Corbin's from the school of "NBA experience always trumps NBA talent and if I bench a vet I might hurt his feelings and lose the lockerroom no matter how badly my starters are playing."
I don't want to side-track this discussion but I'll say this: Mo injured his thumb December 22nd and on December 24th the Jazz ranked in the bottom-half of the league (19th) in pace so I think asking if Utah can/will push-the-tempo w/Bledsoe at the helm is a legitimate question.
Ha thanks Numb all I really feel like I'm doing is toeing the line because I like all of Burke's characteristics but also acknowledge Bledsoe has more potential and is more proven on an NBA-level. As you all know, I'm against anything that increases the chances the Jazz re-sign Al Jefferson this...
That's the biggest question I have on Burke - how does his game translate against NBA length & athleticism. As far as finishing at the rim, alot of diminutive NBA PG's have scored in the paint w/a mid-range game/floater and I've seen glimpses of that from Burke...maybe Burke comes off a...
If I had to choose between:
1.) Keeping Millsap, resigning him for ~$10million and drafting Trey Burke
vs.
2.) Trading Millsap and a 1st-round pick for Bledsoe and Odom's contract.
I would choose Option-1 right now but that doesn't mean I think Burke will be a better player than Bledsoe. I can...
Watched Burke in full today (I always try to catch atleast part of his games). Impressed w/how he grinded...UM came out flat and a woefully over-matched Penn State team made it a physical game early. Burke didn't panic, and like alot of great PG's kept trying to set up his teammates but when...
If the Jazz could get a corpse with an expiring contract and a future protected #1 for Al right now I'd take it like it was Christmas.
Big difference between someone who can "take high % shots" and someone who can "make a high % of shots."
I don't know what you're debating w/me about. My original point was that trading for Millsap makes little sense for the Clippers whether CP3 re-signs with them (likely) or not. The end.
I definitely think they could play together, but I think gambling Bledsoe for a 2013 title run falls on the "risky/foolish gamble" side when it's clear that OKC and San Antonio are clearly the superior team at this point in the season (and I don't think Millsap closes that gap for them).
If the Clippers are choosing 1-player to build the future of their franchise around - it's Blake Griffin (hence the term "franchise player" which I used).
It makes very little sense for LA - even if CP3 re-signs not only because (like you mentioned) Millsap's primary position is the same as the Clippers' franchise player - but also because Millsap will be a free agent this summer. I think Clippers know CP3 will re-sign and comtemplating...
I have no idea if Greg would be open or closed-minded to a buyout if it would potentially help improve the team, but under Larry Miller the Jazz regularly negotiated buy-outs - with players such as Glen Rice, Elden Campbell and Alan Henderson being prime examples. Carry on...
O'Connor and Lindsey have made it clear Utah's "flexibility" in the near-future is a major key to success in the coming years. First and foremost I consider which player would negate that "flexibility" the most and that answer is clearly Jefferson - not only in salary but in style of play...
I agree and hope that resigning Millsap is indeed a future reality for the Jazz.
Honestly though, worrying about paying the Core-4 is the least of my Jazz concerns for two reasons:
1.) It's unlikely all four will become above-average-to-potential franchise players for the Jazz that command $9mil...
As I've said before, I'm all for using our 2013 cap-space as a means for acquiring future first-round picks and the Jazz could certainly afford to absorb Hump's $12 million 13-14 expiring salary. Putting aside the fact I'd prefer to resign Millsap, I feel like this is the sort of deal that still...
Andrei Kirilenko played 2000+ minutes and started the last half of his rookie season as a 20-year old. DeShawn Stevenson was given ample opportunites to win the starting SG spot as a 20 & 21 year-old but wasn't effective. Same with CJ Miles as a 19-year old in 2006-07.
If I had to pick a theme...
The ironic/sad thing is that Bulls' offense picked-apart Utah's halfcourt defense in crunchtime Friday night by running a Marco Bellineli-Carlos Boozer screen-roll. Bellineli's a decent talent but you have the Jazz organization lamenting how they're w/out Mo and Hayward while Nate Robinson is...
If you made this argument prior to last season, I would probably lean towards your side. But a whole year later, Favors&Kanter have shown clear progression and I would argue are Utah's two best defending bigs. I like Millsap and hope the Jazz resign him. Heck, I'd be alright w/letting Big Al...
Because the Jazz in the mid-late 90's were a championship-caliber team for multiple seasons. No they didn't win but they peaked at exactly the wrong time. It's like asking why Jordan is the greatest player ever when he has fewer MVP's than Kareem. There's a difference betwen knowing facts and...
