Cody with a nice deflection and a couple decent rebounds where he made an effort to go get the ball. Follows up with a 3ball and then a nice 18-footer off the dribble.
He's a borderline NBA player at this point. He has NBA length and almost has a few NBA skills.
I can't say that Cody's length on defense is disruptive, but it's at least mildly irritating to the offensive team. He can make passing windows smaller.
So Brice looked good. Flip looked good. Ace looked good. Walt generally looked good. Harkless is busting his *** on defense.
Cody has been like a printer that's low on toner. Just patchy.
Cooper Flagg has also been shut down for the rest of Summer League. I guess when your rookie has shown enough, you just pack him up.
But Flip on the other hand...
Jazz have let Cody shoot a few midrange jumpers in Summer League, and he's looked pretty good shooting them. It would be nice if that becomes a part of his game longterm. It would mean he can get open shots in the half court without just standing in the corner.
I'm concerned that he doesn't have a consistent energy or effort level. He shows up to make a small flurry of nice plays, and then he disappears for two days. The other thing is that his offensive game really is predicated on driving, and he hasn't been able to do that against 7-foot NBA bigs...
My issue with Clayton Jr. is that his limited size and athleticism make it difficult for him to get where he wants to go on the floor without the use of multiple screens. (I guess we'll see if the Jazz can create enough spacing for him when he plays with the regular rotation guys.) Collier is...
