If he plays well his value may pickup and make a trade something we can accommodate. Paging @infection to remind me of the Dante Exum fallacy here. If his play is at last year's level then I don't see us accommodating a trade as his value won't be good enough. I think this will be the last year...
I think there is a real chance one of these guys takes the qualifying offer. Right now teams could really dig in and say like 4/70M-80M and its better than anything available to them.
Mix in some mid post stuff with the Lauri stuff off of actions and the clean up stuff... I think its a recipe for a 20/8 guy with decent efficiency that can scale. His passing has been good so I think there is some self control in there... for now.
The post, iso stuff needs to be dessert...
starting lineup will be
Collier
Brice
Ace
Lauri
Kessler
Key, Clayton (double Jamal Murray's!) with Nurk and Flip helping the passing... and Tay Henny getting his legs back under him for 12-15 a night. Cody finds 10-15 minutes a night.
Suggs would be the salary dump but I could also see WCJ getting dumped after this season. If either guy has another injury plagued year they may not be able to get off the money. That team got really spendy really fast.
Bet they would dump Isaac if they could right now... something to watch...
Probably best to take the TPE into the season when teams are more desperate to dump salary but I could see us taking Niang, Drummond, Saric now if they got a decent second or two. I think if you really want to use it all and maximize the TPE/Remaining MLE that you need to do one transaction...
Like Luke Kornet out here getting 4/40M (I think like 25M guaranteed but still). He may end up being like 75% of what Turner was at 1/10th the cost. Also is shockingly fun to watch. Memphis really isn't that locked in at center either with Edey needing surgery.
So Memphis gave away Huff for a second round pick and a second round pick swap... and I know this is like a minor deal but I kind of love it for Indiana. Dude is good and cheap and bigs were expensive this offseason. Not signing Turner helps a lot with their cap situation and they can dip out of...
I also think it is helpful to wait and see what you have before getting a guy like Giddy who does kind of box you in a little. Especially for where we are.
Yeah I $20M per year like him. I $30M per year kinda hate him. He likely gets closer to that and I could see them regretting that one if it gets there.
He has done it multiple years so I just wonder what player he is most like. Cap space may not mean much next year. We will see.
Depends on the price but he really goosed his numbers post AS break and if you are buying based on that... there could be some buyers remorse if he is closer to 12/7/6 than 21/11/9. He has been a post AS break looter. Even at 25M per year I have real reservations.
