Salt Lake City Summer League: July 5-8 @ Huntsman Center

Especially, outside of Utah? Is there a way?

Utah Jazz Select Ace Bailey, Pick 5

Thurl is a LDS member. That is certainly one of the ways to recruit NBA players (and executives!) to like living in Utah but it is somehow underutilized.

Utah Jazz Select Ace Bailey, Pick 5

I think that Sacramento and San Antonio are pretty comparable to SLC as a relatively small urban area in the less-than-desirable location. Nevertheless, somehow there are way more retired NBA players who still live in there. On the other hand, once they finished playing for the Jazz their...

Utah Jazz Select Ace Bailey, Pick 5

From Reddit "I've lived near or around San Antonio most of my life and you'd be surprised by the number of role players that aren't the Big 3, George Gervin, and David Robinson still live here. George Hill has a big *** ranch outside of town, Antonio Daniels, Bruce Bowen, Antonio Daniels live...

Utah Jazz Select Ace Bailey, Pick 5

Oh, one more thought: in the last 30 years there were hundreds of players who spent a good chunk of their career in SLC and who are now retired. How many of them chose to live in SLC post-retirement besides Deron? I think it answers your question.

Utah Jazz Select Ace Bailey, Pick 5

Did they want to be drafted by the Jazz? I never heard that. But yeah, with time some people learn to like the place they had to go. And some people never do. We will see what group Ace will end up being in. The Jazz took their chances.

Utah Jazz Select Ace Bailey, Pick 5

Yeah, and Lauri seem to be happy in Utah now, and Memo, Gobert and AK were as well. Americans don't want to live in SLC for obvious reasons. If the Jazz want to have happy draftees they need to stick with drafting foreigners.

Utah Jazz Select Ace Bailey, Pick 5

Yes, I agree "he understands that it's a good fit for him and to just embrace it". Because he does not have any other good options. However, before, during and after the draft Ace and his agent gave every possible (i.e. acceptable for NBA prospects) sign that he does not want to be on the Jazz...

Utah Jazz Select Ace Bailey, Pick 5

This is how every normal NBA player acts even when he has an issue with the team: he says the right things and the agent does all of the dirty work on his behalf. It is very clear that Ace did not want and does not want to be in Utah. It may change in the future but but for now it is what it is.

    Keeping Lauri seems increasingly pointless

I think that the problem lies with Ainge: the NBA world passed him by some time ago. All of his moves (acquiring and patiently waiting to trade Sexton and Collins, dangling Lauri, accumulating the assets for the future big game trades etc) were based on the decades of his experience and have...

    How bad/good is Cody Williams?

What we should be looking for is not his arms or legs but his core muscles: hips, lower back, abs... Those are the muscles he needs to develop so that he is not pushed around on defense and to have the stability to play through contact on offense. And those muscles are hard to see.

    Clarkson finalizing buyout with Jazz

If the closet needed a thorough cleaning after only 3 years of Danny Ainge he needs to be held accountable and shown the door.

    Clarkson finalizing buyout with Jazz

Clarkson was the last player who played with Gobert/Mitchell. Now the players with the most Jazz tenure are grizzled vets Kessler and Markkanen. Everybody else has played only two seasons or less.

    Clarkson finalizing buyout with Jazz

It seems that Austin has very little patience for no-defense players. Keyonte and Brice should be concerned.

Collin Sexton traded to Charlotte Hornets for Jusuf Nurkic

Unfortunately, I must agree with other people in this thread: it is a clear sign that the Jazz will be shopping Kessler. In the modern NBA if you are a center without a 3-pointer range then you are not included in the long-term plans. Kessler does not have a reliable jump shot from any distance...

    Bojan Bogdanovic retires

He is 36. Not many NBA players last that long. He had a good career.

Post the 5 man lineup you’re most excited to see next season

I see that the obsession with the newest shiny players never ends. This time last season it was all about Cody.

Collin Sexton traded to Charlotte Hornets for Jusuf Nurkic

I have not read all13 pages in this thread so maybe my points had been made already. Anyway. 1. The second round picks that are 35+ are worth almost nothing. One out of ten of them will turn out into a rotation player. The Jazz had 35 of these picks since the mid 80s and got exactly 3 players...

    Should The Jazz Waive Juzang?

It's 2.8 million per year. In return you get a player who is good off the bench, does not have obvious holes in his game and knows all the Jazz plays extremely well. Oh, and by all accounts he gets along great with coaches and other players and wants to be here. Can you find a markedly better...

Is Ace Bailey the best draft prospect in Utah Jazz history?

Am I the only one who gets uncomfortable with the disconnect between the hype around Ace and what he looks now as a player? Because what I saw was a player with a very limited bag and who is not smart on both offense and defense and who, as a result is often forced to take tough, well-defended...
