On one hand OKC has so many picks still that I doubt they care about the preserving a late first round pick, I'm sure they are much more interested in the small possibility of a lottery pick.
On the other hand we still kind of control whether that pick conveys or not. It's completely in our...
The Indiana trade was bad luck. This was traded before Haliburton went down. It wasn't a bad trade at the time, but looks bad now. The Atlanta trade is still unfathomably bad.
Yeah, from memory I was very low on Jett Howard in that draft. I didn't think he was a first rounder. To be fair to Orlando though, the one thing he projected well on was shooting. I just went back and checked his drat profile and he had a projected NBA 3pt% of 38.4%.
He hasn't been great whenever I've watched. He has gone from really bad to less bad, so maybe he was progressing enough that he gets another shot.
I think the main thing is he was drafted to be a shooter and hasn't shot well. He doesn't do much else.
Only 4-5 games in, but this is what I'm seeing for the tank race:
The early favorites:
Brooklyn
Washington
The scrappier than anticipated:
Charlotte
Toronto
Utah
Unwilling Participants:
NOP
PHO
SAC
DAL
The Watchouts:
Indiana
Boston
The Spurs have played about as easy of a schedule as you can in 4 games. The Bucks just played the Cavs and Knicks. But really what I'm referring to is the fact that Giannis is carrying that team. The Bucks roster is straight trash. The Spurs roster outside Wemby isn't great, but it's still...
Random thoughts after waking up this morning and checking box scores:
- I can't believe Sacramento didn't play Devin Carter in the second half. He was very good in the first half and a big reason for them taking the lead.
- I sometimes imagine what this board would sound like if we were fans...
They played Keon Ellis and Devin Carter in their second unit and they wrecked the thunder to take a big lead. They should play those two together more often.
I agree with this, we have pieces and need to add to them, but it would be awful to miss out on our 2026 pick.
I don't want to sit Lauri and Kessler on purpose like last year, but whatever we can do around the edges should be done.
I think with all the injuries to start the season and all of the poorly run teams we have this year, it is going to be very difficult to lose as many games as we want to if Hardy is allowed to play it straight all year.
There are only 3 winless teams remaining:
- IND
- BKN
- NOP
Brooklyn is the only 4 loss team in the league and looks like the clear favorite to be the worst team in the league.
Instead of focusing on the worst case scenario, finishing bottom 8 and losing out on our pick due to getting jumped in the lottery, I'm going to try and focus on the best case scenario, we make the play in, but still win the lottery and keep our pick.
(Hopefully my logical brain will let me...
Traore getting some minutes tonight. He is lost offensively, doesn't know how to play without the ball in his hands, but was actually pretty good defensively.
Derek Queen looked pretty good for the few minutes I watched as well.
I super hated him last year, and in pre-season to be honest. He's been much better in our first two games. It helps when he's making shots, but it also feels like he is trying to pass first.
This may or may not be interesting, it's probably just normal, but there are a lot of 2nd round draft picks/non drafted guys in rotations right now vs a lot of first round draft picks that aren't in rotations or only getting spot minutes. This could be normal since 2nd rounders/undrafted guys...
OK, I found my post from back in the 2023 draft thread. On opening night there were 3 starters and an additional 9 rotation players. At 10% in to the season there were 8 starters, an additional 9 rotation players, and 4 players getting spot rotation minutes.
So far from the 2025 draft there...
