The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

Andrew Wiggins' special: in the game against the Grizzles the Heat were +0 in the 24 minutes when he played and +32 in the 24 minutes when he was on the bench.

It's pretty wild that this season we went away from using Flip as our secondary ball handler and just park him in the corner now. It does not play to his strengths and slows down his development.

    Walt Clayton is a Dog

Eh, I noticed that in the first half he went a couple of time right under our basket and took the rebound away from our bigs, in the vintage Westbrook style. I did not like that.

The only thing that the Jazz is missing to consistently be on the SAC level is experience.

Ace is our new Cody this season. Hopefully not for long because we still have the old Cody.

Much of what Key does on offense - baskets, assists - is pure highlights-of-the-week kind of stuff. Shades of Kobe. He will be noticed in the league just for that.

    No Extension for Walker Kessler?

Well if you count on the situation with Boozer being repeated this summer... good luck! But if we look at the actual list of the available free agents, the best players in 2026 are Kessler, John Collins, Mathurin and Ivey. So, yeah: if the Jazz throw gobs of money at free agents they can get...

    No Extension for Walker Kessler?

This is some alternative history. The Jazz have never bagged good free agents. Boozer is a special case because the Cavs and Boozer were trying to pull off some shady stuff and Boozer outwitted them: he was never a normal FA that had time to be courted by many teams. Boozer aside, the best...

    No Extension for Walker Kessler?

Kessler becomes one of the very top free agency prizes in 2026. The Wizards and Bulls both have young cores and tons of money to spend. And they do not have any long-term solutions at the center. The Jazz can easily end up facing a huge offer from one of those teams.

    T-Wolves Watch Thread

I think it is about time that all these fervent dreams about Ainge's war chest of future Timberwolves and Cavs picks died a quiet death. It is pretty clear by now that all of them will be the same late-20s picks.

    T-Wolves Watch Thread

This is wishful thinking at its finest. The Wolves are not particularly old: any decline of Conley and Gobert would be offset by the expected improvements from their young core players (Ant, McDaniels, Reid) and their second-year players (Dillingham, Clark). They are actually pretty deep...

Clingan is crazy strong: he is clearly stronger than Kessler. But, luckily, Walter is way more skilled. Hansen, though, will be a problem once he gets used to the NBA basketball.

Walker is trying to pass like Nurkic. Good.

Oh, so I have some superpowers?! Well, then... I am really looking forward to watching Svi starting for the Jazz and delivering many wins!

Ringer Top 100, Lauri moved up, Kessler snub?

Eh, cut me some slack: I have not seen Walker on the basketball court for 6 months. My memories of him are getting increasingly more hazy, while WCJ has been a constant feature in the recent discussions and videos.

That's why I have a hard time seeing the Hornets with Ball, Sexton, Bridges, Miller, Dinwiddie, Tre Mann and Grant Williams finishing below the Jazz.

Ringer Top 100, Lauri moved up, Kessler snub?

Walter is probably in the 14-16 range among the centers and an average center is probably less valuable than an average SF or PG in the today's NBA. Especially the center who cannot hit 3-pointers, not a passer and not a good FT shooter. There are 11 centers who are clearly better than Kessler...

Also, our defense immediately looks markedly better every time when Cody gets on the floor.

Am I being crazy to say that the Jazz would be better starting Nurk - solely because of his passing? The second unit will at least have Flip in that role. It's just our PGs are not very good and they absolutely need the secondary playmaker.
