I don't know if the salary works for those types. Like I am sure you could meet the trade requirements but would be A LOT to take on with their salary commitments. That's why I think they may not make a deal.
I could see like if Scottie Pippen Jr. was healthy and the season derails for...
I bet they wouldn't hesitate to do 4/120 and have final year as a PO. He would make more there as the spotlight and production with Luka would be great... so I'd feel pretty good about him opting in or sticking around. That's where the Jazz may not love that type of offer... he has an out and...
They offered multiple firsts but sure.
Cap room opens up trades but you still need assets for anything unless you are taking bad salary. I promise that LA was happy we didn't extend Walker.
This is fair. I do think the risk to reward is kinda wonky. Fair or not I'm using the 25M number to judge them. Do they think they can get him at $20M a year? Who do they think they are landing with that cap space?
If they move him it will make sense. I just think we opened ourselves up to...
You are right. The Lakers have never shown any interest in Walker... oh wait.
Wiz, Nets, and Bulls also could easily have interest. Wiz have so much space they can offer Walker and wait.
The FA list is not very big. We should not brush off the potential of an offer or threatened offer that...
One thing I have seen out there is the thought that Walker won't get an offer sheet. That may be true... but guys that get to RFA can get paid based on the threat of a big offer sheet. Some of the worst contracts in the league got all the way to FA (RFA or UFA). Some of the best contracts in the...
The real issue is we didn't negotiate an actual deal. So we don't know what Walker's camp would do if offered 25M per year.
If they had actually negotiated and Walker was dead set on 30M a year... Jazz are justified in walking away. The Jazz sent in a lowball offer in part because they aren't...
One last thing here. Our tank goals are now directly opposed to Walker's goals for the season. Imagine him playing really well and it messes up the tank... plays so well a team offers like 35-40M per on a 3+1. So you missed out on cheaper Walker contract AND effed the tank.
Only thing that...
Or you trade him now... or any time in the last year.
At 30M you match and move it later if you have to. Chance that he gets something bigger than that and you are forced to wrestle with whether this contract is a trade asset.
I just hate how we handled this thing.
I think chances Walker...
Yeah. I assume if he is healthy and you offered anything reasonable that it would get matched. Regardless... he should be on the list.
I think he is the budget version where you go like 3/50M or something and pray he doesn't miss 60% of the games.
Assume Eason doesn't get extended. I saw earlier last week they thought it would get done... How much are you paying him in FA? What makes Houston blink? Assume he is healthy this year and makes mild improvements... nothing crazy.
Sounds like Tari Eason isn't getting extended. So there is a name we can throw some money at I guess.
The FA list next year:
Trae Young - Player option
Tari Eason
Benny Mathurin
Ivey
Duren
Austin Reaves
Coby White
Then a bunch of guys like:
Keon Ellis
Quentin Grimes
Ayo Dosunmu
Sexton and...
