I have this conversation and see this development angle presented everyday. But I'm not gonna debate you on that, it's not important lol. My post had nothing to do with being "wired to win" or the vets driving wins. I don't understand how that's relevant to my post or how to respond to it. I...
Again, my post says nothing about winning or losing. Did either of you read my post?
My post says something about the developmental benefit of having these vets being meaningless. If/when we get rid of them for little to nothing we won't feel like we're missing out on anything by not having...
Maybe. If his defense doesn’t improve, I think it will hard for him to ever be an all star. I think it’s easy to get up in the counting stats (especially when stats have inflated so much), but I view all players through the same lens and for Key that means pumping the brakes a bit. He’s improved...
I expect we’ll do something with the vets. Get some seconds or whatever from facilitating trades or buy them out.
Once they are gone we will pretend like we didn’t have people dying on a hill to defend their minutes and acting like we cannot develop without them.
There’s no reason to police what people enjoy. And that goes both ways, doesn’t matter if you’re a big picture guy or just want to enjoy the moment.
Just don’t try to tell me it’s some part of a mastermind big picture plan. Or if you do, come with a good argument.
If we went away from the vets there would be less wins but more to celebrate. If Cody/TH played how Love/Nurk did and we won because of it, I don’t think there would be as much internal conflict going on in the thread.
Castle is someone ranked too high here as well. But I've always been a doubter of his, so I'm biased. Off the top of my head here are guys who could make it into this list:
(no order)
Edey
Kessler
Ace
Key
Eason
Fears
Kyshawn George
Lamelo
Jabari Smith
Mathurin
It gets flat after a certain point
If he stinks the rest of the season, it might be like trading for Lauri just before this season. I don't know how you'd plan to fill out the rest of the roster, but if he's truly gettable and MEM wants to start over I think you get him and think about the rest later. Way better than the Zion...
Amen is very good and a positive contributor on offense, but he is still an inefficient scorer who cannot provide spacing. I don't think he shows much hope of being a shooter either. Mobley and Chet are two DPOY level players who have shown more offensive chops.
