I'm just checking in and catching up. I'm looking at the box score, and Cody got a layup blocked (which is not unusual) and missed a 3PA (which is also not unusual). Otherwise, did he do anything spectacular?
I'm thinking the Jazz will keep Hendricks as a long-term development project and see if they can make him into their version of Serge Ibaka. That archetype 3D forward has a lot of value.
I agree with you. Cody is a guy who is used to having the ball and playing out on the floor. He then builds rhythm and confidence in his shooting over the course of a game. The problem is -- that's not what an NBA team is going to ask him to do. Cody isn't going to take on-ball reps away from...
I don't think it's about whether Cody has an aggressive mentality. It's a question of whether Cody ever becomes a good enough shooter and scorer in an NBA scheme to justify putting him on the floor. Otherwise, defenders will just ignore him.
For Cody, it really is all about whether he can...
Unless the Jazz are going to make a big trade around the draft this year (maybe Walker?), we're looking at having a top-8 pick or having no pick at all. So I'm just focusing on guys who could factor into the top-10 range. I don't have as much time to obsess as I used to. It does suck that we...
He's a guy who builds rhythm and confidence through the course of a game. If he doesn't touch the ball and gets one shot attempt in 6 minutes of game time, he never builds that rhythm and confidence. But that said, he's not good enough at what he does to earn those touches right now.
It was bold in the sense that PG told everyone he wanted to be in LA. It's similar to the Raptors trading for Kawhi even though Kawhi didn't want to be in Toronto.
Then getting PG to extend in OKC enabled the Thunder to trade him to the Clippers a year later.
Paul George and Carmelo Anthony. He got Paul George for Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis. He got Carmelo Anthony for Enes Kanter basically.
Then he got PG to extend with OKC (when PG said he wouldn't extend with Indiana) and later traded him to the Clippers for a historic haul.
Presti takes swings and is willing to make bold trades. He knew Paul George didn't want to be in OKC, and he traded for PG anyway. Then he got rewarded for it. He knows it's okay to miss in the draft, but he picks guys who will have an impact if they hit. Presti missed on Pokusevski, Ousmane...
If that's who we end up with, I think we can make something out of it. He gives off a bit of an Aaron Gordon-at-Arizona vibe, but he's not as bouncy, and he's probably a better paint scorer in college.
Brown, Ament and Peat are probably in the 5 - 8 range where the Jazz might find themselves.
I think the Jazz are playing Cody because he actually rotates defensively, slows down the ball handler, cuts off drives in the paint and makes good closeouts. Like I've said, defensively Cody has been fine. Meanwhile, Brice and Walt have been soft defensively. They get blown by, and their...
