Booker, Brown and Butler were the engines of effective offenses for deep playoff runs. And Keyonte put nice stats for several games - on below-average efficiency and playing for a tanking team. And I am not even going to start talking about his defense.
He still has much work ahead of him to...
Let's pump the breaks a little bit. Keyonte probably reached the tier of Sharpe, LaVine, Powell and Ingram but there is clearly another level for him to ascend before we can start comparing him to true stars like Booker, Brown and Butler.
You know, I heard a lot of "Keyonte will be a good 3-point shooter eventually, look at his FT%"... But. Key is currently the fourth in the NBA at the FT% with the 93% rate. Three players are above him at 94%: Morant, Murhy and Smart. Morant is shooting 17% from the three and Smart is 24%...
The most damning thing about players like Cody is not their advanced stats but the fact that they are routinely delegated to play garbage minutes on garbage teams.
Yes, and it is not limited to the Jazz. In general, on really bad teams the players who often play in garbage time (after the starters were decidedly destroyed) have an artificially inflated offensive, defensive and net ratings.
For example, on the Hornets the player with the highest offensive...
Yeah, because a lot of Cody's minutes came in the 4th quarter during the blowouts and it improves his averages. That is why his offensive rating is higher than Lauri's. And that is why Harkless has the team's second highest offensive rating (hint: Harkless is also bad on offense).
I hope not. Ace is not ready to be a consistent and efficient 24 PPG scorer. I want him to reach and stay at the 15 PPG level, so that he can learn the intricacies of the NBA offense and defense, pacing himself and staying out of the foul trouble - and all of that without the pressure of being...
Not really. The Jazz in the last year of Gobert and Mitchell were a declining aging team with no draft assets to improve. The only quality young player was Mitchell and he clearly wanted to be out.
Even f the Jazz miss out on the top 3 players in the 2026 draft they will go forward as a young...
It would be very hard to finish below the Wizards or the Nets: they are just legitimately that bad. If the Pacers decide to tank and shut down, say , Mathurin, there is also not much can be done to finish lower than them. And the Pelicans and Clippers will , most likely, rise above the Jazz...
Well, since you seem to put a lot of faith in the OFRTG and DEFRTG at this point... Cody Williams currently has a higher offensive rating then Lauri, but Markkanen (together with Flip and Nurkic) has a much higher DEFRTG. I think we need either to get rid of this inefficient offensive player...
What do you mean "almost impossible'? Last game Cody went 0- 4, had 1 turnover and another turnover not assigned to him ( he suddenly left his place on the wing for no reason and his teammate passed to the place where he was standing a second ago). That is 6 wasted possessions. He also forced...
Ace clearly has the physical tools and the natural understanding of the game, which makes his floor being very high. The only thing that will determine if he ends up becoming a star or just a high-level role player is how much of internal drive does Ace have to put in all this work to keep...
You are comparing rookies with the established players but the right comparison here is the current (and near-future) version of Queen and Fears vs. Queen and Fears in the first games of the season. The Pelicans gave their rookies tons of minutes early, even when they were clearly struggling...
You all are just being really ungrateful. Cody got the Jazz Ace (after they played him heavy minutes in March). Cody will get the Jazz another future star after this season.
When Cody plays <10 minutes the Jazz record is 3-4, when he gets at least 10 minutes they are 2-6.
I watched the Pelicans playing against Dallas and they looked solid. Queen and Fears already look very, very good and they are getting better every game. And the Pels got Zion back. New Orleans will start winning some games pretty soon and will overtake the Jazz.
