I can't believe Dumars allowed Jeff Weaver to trade an unprotected 2026 pick for Derik Queen, what in the world.
"Don't pull the thing out, unless you plan to bang" Jeff Weaver says as he takes out another mortgage on his home to gamble on startup IPOs.
Game 1 was pretty encouraging for the goal of "don't finish 30th in defense," but it hasn't looked good the last two games, lol.
Team looks like they could finish 8th or 10th in offense and 30th in defense if they didn't make trades.
The Jazz are on pace to score 150 points against the Blazers' great defense.
They are also on pace to surrender 150 points against the Blazers' terrible offense.
Will the Jazz ever change their terrible defensive scheme? Check back in three years.
Hendricks is weird to evaluate in that he's in year 3, but he's still so young and has played so little that hard to set expectations for how he should be playing. It's also the case that Hendricks is a PF and the clear 3rd PF on the roster so that makes it harder for him to find minutes. I...
Coward did not have a single game in college against good competition where he was anything but catastrophic and then immediately started playing great in the NBA, lol.
Intangibles + tools + shooting wins again.
Hmm, I think with Collier and Cody out of the rotation and Lauri and Keyonte playing much better, we're probably like a 28-32 win team without fake injuries.
Kind of stuck in a weird zone, need to either trade Lauri or trade for veteran guards.
I think Hendricks' body type is much more suited to offense than defense, but his skill level is not good enough yet to take advantage of it. It's weird how much weight he put on, I don't know what it's for unless he learns how to drive to the basket.
There are two different arguments here
1. Taylor Hendricks has never been actually good at defense at any point, he's only been hypothetically good at defense and him not translating the hypothetically good to actually good is concerning
2. He's played like 4 semi meaningful games in his entire...
Obviously we're not going to get picks in addition to Castle or Ausar.
(The trades are very unlikely as I doubt the Jazz like Castle or Ausar and I doubt the Spurs or Pistons want to give them up without winning a playoff series)
I do wonder if the Jazz could trade future picks to try to get...
Probably not, it probably would have been Cody, lol.
But Castle sucks as a prospect in general (non-shooting guards are not valuable) and doesn't fit the Jazz's focus on bombing threes either. I don't think Ainge or Hardy have ever expressed much interest in offensive limited players.
The Jazz are probably going to have to trade Lauri to tank for real if Brice and Keyonte are willing and able to play defense this year.
Lauri for Steph Castle or Lauri for Ausar makes some sense value wise, but I don't think the Jazz even like those guys so we would need a third team AND I...
Boozer is one of the greatest HS basketball players of all time, but is a little difficult to project defensively to the NBA as of now. He's a pure PF, but I'm not sure he can defend guys like Tatum. Hopefully he shows that and then I'll be very excited for him.
Peterson has huge, SGA like...
Feels very risky to draft Jazz guys this year because of how weird the roster is and how many injuries/fake injuries/trades we could have. I could see Keyonte averaging 20/7 this year if he gets 34 MPG or 10/3 if he gets like 16 MPG
