If we end up in that position we dont lose our pick for sure. There is still a draft lottery and teams jump up frequently, in fact more teams have jumped to #1 from pretty much every position than worst place. There are also ways to improve the team outside of getting extremely lucky in the draft.
It doesn't have to be enough. Another top 5 pick this year would be nice. But we also have a lot of other resources and opportunities to get another high level player besides a pick that has less of a guarantee.

I really struggle to see Wemby playing a whole season and intense playoffs staying healthy. I hope he does, for his sake. But the Spurs should plan now as the time to go for it. I doubt he has a long career and will likely peak earlier than most players. He could prove me wrong though.
