I think we have to look at it from another angle: If OKC fails miserably, will they get desperate and throw everything at us to get Lauri? Will Minnesota do something really stupid, like double down and just keep the same team around, if they get bounced early?
Something like Kessler, Clarkson and Sensabaugh would give them three cheap options while shedding a ton of salary. I guess it would be very hard to sell this to the fans, though, and I am far from sure that I think we should do it.
You may very well be right, but it will be so hard for the Timberwolves to trade KAT for a meager return. If they can`t find a team that is willing to give up something very good for them, I can`t see them being able to justify trading him. They have invested so much into KAT that trading him...
How about a Kessler for Naz Reid-trade? This trade would really help the Timberwolves financially and we would get a different kind of center to pair with Markkanen and Hendricks in the front court.
Good morning all.
As a Norwegian, it is hard for me to watch the Jazz play. The home games are on @ 3am, or 03.00 as we say over here, and it is only in the weekends that I get to watch recordings when I get up.
We all know the defensive potential of Hendricks and Kessler. We also know how...
He was never going to extend last summer as he only could get 25% of the cap. This off season he is eligble for 30% of the cap. Cleveland can also give him 8% raises. If he leaves next summer, he can get 30% of the cap in free agency, but only 5% raises.
Why wouldn't he extend if he wants to be there? He will have 7 years of service this summer and be eligble for 30% of the cap. An extension can go up to 140% of his previous salary, which is more than enough to reach his new max.
Listening to Dunc'd on now talking about the Jazz. One fun fact they came up with was that the only rookie pg aged 19-20 and picked outside the lottery who have played as many minutes as Keyonte, is Theo Maledon. They were obviously not comparing them, just noting how rare it is for this to happen.
Neither do I, but who knows? $7 million dollars has been known to change a mind or two. If he adds two years so that he would be on a three year deal with a player option for the fourth, he could be a free agent again when he hits 10 years of service and is eligble for 35% of the cap.
One move that would be both hilarious and really exciting, would be for us to move all the Cavs-picks we got for Donovan Mitchell to the Cavs to get him back. 3 unprotected firsts, the swap rights cancelled + Sexton and Clarkson going back to the Cavs should match any offer from another team...
Houston have some weird incentives here. Their own pick is top four protected. They will not make the play in so the further down the standings they slip, the better odds they have of winning the lottery. They also want the Nets pick to be as good as possible and don`t want to see them passing...
He is right, This is from CBAFAQ:
"
23. What is the maximum salary a player can receive? Are there exceptions to the maximum salary?
Here are the league-wide maximum salaries for the first season of a new contract:
Years in NBA1
Defined maximum salary
2017-18
2018-19
2019-20
2020-21
2021-22...
Nope, 30% is the max for players with 7 or more years of experience. The super max makes it possible to go to 35%, but Lauri can`t get it as you have to be on the team that drafted you or be traded while still on you first contract to qualify.
"Players with between 7-9 years of experience are...
Lauri will have 7 years of experience in the NBA and is eligble for 30% of the cap next year. If the cap lands at $141 million as currently projected by the NBA, Lauri can be bumped to $42,3 million next year.
The most important thing about this new deal, is getting the salary for next season...
As several others have mentioned in other threads, it is not necessary to max out Lauri next year. The minimum required would be to bump his salary so that a 140% extension on top of that will give him max salary in 2025/2026. If they go this route, we will have quite a bit of cap space this...
