I think we have a real clear tanking move that we can pass off as developmental... well... it would be legit developmental - just give Ace a ton of on-ball opportunities. Maybe even run the offense through him in certain situations... like... high leverage, end of game, clutchitime situations.

Nah, 29 games is not valuable enough sample, especially on the back end of the season when half the teams are tanking.

In essence, the question here is do we value any of those higher than a pick around 9-12 in this draft. I think I value the pick higher than every single one of those, except for Ace.

Because all those other teams have actual All-star and All-NBA players, most of them have MVP-calibre player. We don't. And we still have not seen vast majority of our players actually play winning basketball. We don't know how they will respond to the expectation of wins every single game...

I don't know if anyone mentioned this but JJJ made the all star last year so he's part of the anti-rest provision by the league. Meaning, if we decide to sit him in any random game we risk accruing penalties(fines) for it.

We've been through this before with a much better defensive player than JJJ. I think in today's league if the PG will be your guy, you need that guy to be truly special. I guess he can still get there, but I won't believe it until I see it. Plus, he still needs to get better on defence.

If we somehow manage to keep the pick and land in the top 5, I don't think the trade would be horrible, but this will remain my biggest worry until the lottery... I think it will be REALLY hard to keep the pick. I think on lottery night, we will need luck to keep it.
