How the Western Conference is Shaping Up

One thing to take into account is that analytic projections won't be taking into account how stcaked the west is (and how bad the east is).

How the Western Conference is Shaping Up

There's 5 teams clearly ahead of the rest: GSW, Hou, SAS, OKC, Min 4 teams clearly worse than the rest: Dal, Sac, LAL, PHX And then there's the muck: Uta, LAC, NO, Mem, Den, Por We could end up anywhere in the bottom or the top of the muck. Our success is contingent on injuries, if Burks...

[Jones]BREAKING: Jazz willing to engage Celtics in S&T talks: But Gordon Hayward must agree

I think a future first will probably be enough to get Crowder. Most teams with cap space are bad and will want to keep their future picks. Jazz are one of the few who can part with one. We aren't tanking. I expect a top 10 protected pick going out for Crowder would be enough.

FiveThirtyEight blog -- Utah Jazz *Carmelo player projections

Not really, most of the confidence intervals (90/10 CIs) in later years go higher than where they were last year, which means there is a good chance they will have a few years in the future better than last year. It's just that the projection system expects some regression to the mean when you...

2015 Annual JazzFanz All-Time NBA Draft

Rodman at 65, Walton at 52 (going by peak!), and KJ at 129!? Those picks are insane value (would have guessed all would go 20 spots higher at least).

    Did Exum really say that???!!!???

Exum is already a better PG than Burke, so I can see why he might be annoyed.

Jazz vs Blazers SL 6:30 mt LAST JAZZ GAME IN FOREVER

Yeah, you're probably right. He had a couple plays that surprised me (fairly quick and can take the ball to the whole), but overall not good. Hood and Gobert were just such beasts this summer league. Nice to see.

Jazz vs Blazers SL 6:30 mt LAST JAZZ GAME IN FOREVER

That is the worst call against Gobert that I've ever seen. What in the hell.

Jazz vs Blazers SL 6:30 mt LAST JAZZ GAME IN FOREVER

I've been pleasantly surprised by Giffey. I think I'd take him over Clark, although I still don't think he should make the team.

Jazz vs Blazers SL 6:30 mt LAST JAZZ GAME IN FOREVER

Ian Clark just can't seem to do anything right this game. Pretty brutal to watch.

Jazz vs Blazers SL 6:30 mt LAST JAZZ GAME IN FOREVER

I will say I really don't like how Exum is settling for so many 3's. He really shouldn't be taking many of those at this point in his career.

Jazz vs Blazers SL 6:30 mt LAST JAZZ GAME IN FOREVER

When a team plays the pick and roll by packing the paint and leaving the roll man open at the 3 point line, that's exactly what you should do, and Exum calmly made the right play 3 times for 9 points in a row.

Not sure what you guys are watching, but Exum played well that quarter.

Jazz vs Blazers SL 6:30 mt LAST JAZZ GAME IN FOREVER

I think Motum and Thomas could make the team. Everyone else...no chance.

Jazz vs Blazers SL 6:30 mt LAST JAZZ GAME IN FOREVER

Exum is so smooth at the point. He's going to be a 1 in this league, no doubt about it.

Jazz vs Blazers SL 6:30 mt LAST JAZZ GAME IN FOREVER

Seriously, Exum would be looking much better if anyone on our team could shoot. They are just packing the paint and giving up wide open 3's. Finally Murphy makes a few.

Omnibus Gordon Hayward Thread (To clean up the Board some)

This post is a good explanation of why I think the Jazz should probably match. That said, I think there is a case for not matching, yet to be made. I'm far too lazy to make a good post about this (and to be honest I'm not smart enough to figure this all out), but you have to look at the Jazz'...

Cavs offer Gordo MAX deal (maybe)

Thanks. In that case I can see why the Jazz aggressively telling other teams that they will match could be a positive strategy.

Cavs offer Gordo MAX deal (maybe)

Can someone explain to me why the Jazz potentially matching their offer would scare the Cavs off? What's the downside to making the offer regardless?

    Gordon Hayward or Chandler Parsons?

Just for ****s and giggles, maybe you should look at how many minutes they played. Parsons 12-13: per 36 15.4/5.3/3.5 PER 15.3 Hayward 12-13: per 36 17.4/3.8/3.6 PER 16.8 Parsons didn't put up better numbers than Hayward that year. And you shouldn't expect 'bigger numbers' from...
