This isn't your typical trade thread. I don't have specific player in mind, but I'm thinking the future looks good with the young core we have and the possible draft picks we have coming up. Why not acquire good role players to fit around Favors, Kanter, Burks, Hayward, Millsap and Harris. You trade Al, Cj, and bell. In return the jazz get a backup big a shooter and a defender on the perimeter, and a future first, or something to that effect.

What do you guys think?

Go Jazz!!

I don't usually agree with you, but I agree with this. Sell high and continue rebuilding while developing the youth.

The question that needs to be asked is what team would want or need him AND have the players pick we could get back. First start looking in the east because the jazz are more likely to send him out of the west

Boston - I see nothing here

Cleveland - the drafted pf maybe varejao dump salary with a Jamison swap and a pick

Philly - I like iggy but the don't need aj

Toronto - Maybe Calderon but I don't see them trading him. Nothing else

Indy - doesn't need him any more

Miami - What mike miller and Shane battier I don't think so

Orlando - they would make a good trade partner I would take reddick, orton, Anderson, Even turkaglu to make salaries match noth him and aj have 2 years left.

Atlanta - josh smith or Marvin Williams would love to switch out Harris for Heinrich here also.

Washington - They might look at raja because the need help at the 2 but we would have to add a 2nd rounder

NY - don't see a need here or players I would take.

NJ - ditto

Detroit - No one unless we took stuckey but the just re-signed him. Austin days maybe or Ben gordon. (Gordon doesn't help youth movement)

Charlotte - Jordan is always a sucker but they have nothing

Chicago - again no needs

Milwaukee - They could really use him since gooden is really just a back up but they have nothing I would want unless it is a pick

Next year's trade deadline this thread will make more sense.

Depends on how bad this season goes. If this Jazz team crashes and burns over the next two months, I absolutely think this will be considered THIS year.

It also depends on which other teams don't live up to their expectations over the next two months. You never know what opportunities might pop up by March 15.

Why limit our options to just the east. Is Jefferson that scary?

I still like my Jefferson for Okur and pick idea.

Big Al's salary coming off the books is how we are going to re-sign Favors and Hayward. Trading him means we take salary in return --> Goodbye, Favors.

Good hell we have plenty of rookies and young lotto picks that take time to figure out the NBA game. Thats all we need even more rookies.

If some of you were gm, the Jazz would lead the league in diaper changing! Sheesh!

We've been over this before. Picks are assets. Assets can be traded, or combined to move up in the draft. More picks does not mean we will have a team full of rookies. Our FO won't put together a team full of rookies, but that doesn't mean they won't collect assets in the building process.

I don't know why some people seem to be stuck on the idea of bringing Memo back, but with the way NJ is playing, I'd love to have their pick with minimal/no protection.

It's a salary dumping deal that yields an asset. I think trading Jefferson for anyone with a contract longer than his would be a huge mistake.

Not really. Utah could trade for a contract/s that expires at the same time, or sooner. Not only that, but they have no salary committed after 2012-13(4 team options in 13-14), so even if they traded for a longer contract(doubtful), they'd still be able to easily sign those guys.

I listened to locke for a few this afternoon. I caught the segment where he was going off about Jefferson. I know how most of you feel about locke but he had a great point. Jefferson is not an efficient player. Just because he's a 20/10 guy does not mean he should start. I think that instead of trading him Corbin should just bring him off the bench. That may solve a lot of issues we have with no ball movement and pick and roll defense.

Depends on the contract. If Jazz can get a younger version of Gerald Wallace or something like that then they fill a necessity without having to wait a few years following the draft. This team can grow up in a hurry IF everything plays out perfectly. Favors and Kanter look like they're going to, and Burks is really surprising to this point.

Not to mention they're going to be getting a lot more in revenue sharing over the next couple of years. They built up the armory under Larry. Let's hope they do the same again rather than using the new CBA to increase Greg's salary. That extra money will come in handy if they have to max out two of these four, retain Millsap, pick up a top draft guard or two, and match the market on the other two young players.

Dwight Howard isn't coming to Utah but I think Al's post game (albeit lack passing out of double teams) is a nice fit for Orlando.
Having said & considering Orlando still wants veterans (not just cap & picks), I can see KOC sticking his nose in any 3-team trade.

Nutshelled.

I don't know how long it's going to take to install more than 10% of the offense but until they do Jefferson is going to have to be depended upon heavily in order to generate points. Unless you're a season tanker (obviously I'm not) moving him now would be a bad idea barring some kind of GM rape scenario.

If you give the ball to him every possession of course he is depended to generate points. If Jazz would be playing all the offensive plays through me, even i would average at least 10 ppg.
