New idea in desperation to stave off another trade/free agent thread.

So, what are the greatest performances you’ve seen in cinema? TV or movies?

I’ll nominate three:

Daniel Day Lewis in Gangs of New York
Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight
Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump

Really?

Okay...

Bale in The Fighter
Renner in The Town
Billy Bob Thornton in Friday Night Lights

Off the top of my head:

Gary Oldman - Leon (The Professional) although, really, everything he's done
Marlon Brando - Godfather
Leonardo DiCaprio - Django Unchained

Foreign language films:

Alain Delon - Le Samourai
Toshiro Mifune - Seven Samurai
Choi Min-sik - Oldboy

DiCaprio was really good in that. I’ll have to look into Seven Samurai

@Wes Mantooth, I considered listing Marlon Brando for Godfather.

Halle Berry in Catwoman

Seriously though...

Sam Rockwell - Moon
Matthew Mcconaughey and Woody Harrelson- True Detective
Idris Elba- The Wire
Brendan Gleeson and Collin Ferrel- In Bruge
