Trey Burke has shot 9 more times than any other starter on the Jazz

He is 12 / 31 (38%)(2 pters) and 2 / 10 (20%)(3 pters) while getting 11 assists and 6 turnovers in 72 minutes.You can talk about being a General and a leader but these kind of #'s show Burke hasn't changed .

All off season and preseason guys used (would ,could ,maybe )when talking if Burke could get to the hole , shoot better ,or get his team mates better shots. But now Burke is averaging (16) shots a game while his team mates average (11)Favors,(11) Burks,(11)Kanter,(10) Hayward.I said it off season ,pre season ,and now ,I see more losses if Trey Burke is shooting the ball the most.

Give it a rest. Trey is going to be real nice and so are the Jazz. They're going to take their lumps early but the pieces are in place to build into something real.

To the OP:

1. How many of his shots are taken with <6 seconds left on the shot clock?

2. Of the shots he takes with 6+ seconds left on the clock, how many should he have passed up? Why?

Trey doesn't seem to be forcing shots he shouldn't be taking for the most part. That is, his decision making has been ok, and he's trying to execute the offense. The screens Kanter and Favors are setting are terrible, and there's very little room for Trey to operate without any proven shooters on the court. The Jazz gave their opponents no reason to defend perimeter shooters through the first 6 quarters of the season. As a result, creating easy looks for off-ball players has been incredibly difficult, and the Jazz's primary ball handlers have been forced to take low percentage shots on short shot clocks. Context matters; the Jazz have very little offensive talent on the roster. Perhaps Quin should instruct Alec to initiate the offense a little more.

Its obvious its Kanters fault. Enes is yelling shi* and Trey thought he was saying shoot. Dam you Enes, heres a bus ticket and a peanut butter sandwich.

I would agree about the screens -- Gobert does set good screens. Now all he has to do is learn how to roll like Favors. Kanter, I can't recall too many times he was on the scoring end of a P-N-R. Trey in my view is better than I expected. He's tough, can get to the hole and score, needs to be more consistent in shooting and create better for others.

The mechanics on Burke's three point attempts have been atrocious - if he's not going straight up and down on his jumper it's all but certain to be a brick. He doesn't have the ability to come around a screen or stop on a dime at full speed like a Curry or Westbrook and hit a jumper.

Otherwise I think he's doing OK - he's putting the ball on the floor and scoring at a decent rate at/near the rim. The next step for him is to use that driving ability to create good looks for his teammates.

Burke is simply not that good imo. I think he has forced things too often and taken bad shots.

I also think that Snyder is partly to blame. Burks and Hayward should be getting more pick n rolls ran for them (and a few more iso's in burks case) and burke should have less

Trey wants to be "da man" and thinks he "da man". But what he is a skilled but short and not-quick-enough PG who can never be "da man". He has to learn to be a pass first facilitator who can score enough to keep the defense honest. But he is head strong enough that he might not ever accept that role. So, yes, right now he is shooting way too much.

SMH.

Prove them wrong Burke.

Yes, Trey, grow 6 inches and gain some serious quickness, cause you could use both of them. Boyz, trey is just lacking in some critical physical attributes and there is no getting around that. He could be a good pass first pg, but nothing more.

Hey OP, nothing has changed. The haters are still haters. Improvements be damned.

I don't want to pile on, because it really doesn't seem to me like he takes a lot of bad shots. I'm surprised by his percentages. What does bother me is he will do the PNR and as Favors or Gobert roll to the hoop, Burke will throw the ball at their feet. I thought his strength was supposed to be the PNR?

You said it above. He just has to prove them wrong. He has yet to do that. This isn't rocket science. If/when he plays well over an extended period, the "haters" will disappear. It's really that simple.

He has shown improvement over last year. Yes it is early but the signs are there. Better shot selection and D to be specific.

He still has a long way to go but I will never embrace the trend of racking our own players over the coals. Even if I want them traded.

trey has to shoot because we pass and pass(which is good) and trey ends up getting the ball because nothing is there(which is not good) and only 4-5 sec left(which is not good) on the clock and trey doesn't want to over pass and turn the ball over(which is good).

trey shoots because nobody steps up and wanting to take over. we don't have 1 on 1 guy in this team. we don't have a bail out guy. no melo, no harden, no nothing. we move the ball and gets everybody involved, but we can't break the defense and we don't have that superstar who can regularly take 20 shots like it's nothing.

if you don't see this then shame on you.

That may be true, but the shots have to start dropping.
