So we're in the first week of free agency. Jazz have lost Hayward, Mack, Hill, And probably Withey.
They have drafted 2 roster spots with Mitchell and Bradley.
They have signed zero free agents.
Is this ok? Is it better to make some trades now or later. The remaining free agents aren't appealing now.
If Lindsey sets the team back with his lack of making moves how long will people still think he's a top gm?
At this point I think they have to wait and see what may fall to them.

They did add rubio using a pick.

Losing the Silent Cipher to Boston stung everyone.

As angry and betrayed as the fans felt, I bet Lindsey felt much worse.

He thought George Hill was his friend, he wasn't. He thought Hayward was sincere, probably not.

He thought he would spend his summer adding complimentary pieces, not restructuring the team's blue print.

lindsey is meticulous in his preparation, intelligent and always professional...and nothing went his way.

Meanwhile, Scott Layden looks like a genius in Minnysoda because of circumstances.

It's not fair its just life.

DL is a man of integrity and respect and thorough preparation who has been screwed over by a few men who are the opposite. I have no issue with anything he's done.

It doesn't matter who we sign or lose anyways lol. No ones beating the warriors. They could even go down with an injury to play, Steph, Durant, or green and still no one is going to beat them

Alec Burks is our biggest FA acquisition.

LOL.

You also made a great point in "making moves just for the sake of making moves."

1. Lindsey won the draft by trading up for Mitchell. It's rare to be able to jump that high without giving up a major piece.

2. He correctly judged that he couldn't wait on Hill and got Rubio.

3. Had no choice but to let Hayward make his decision. Can't blame him for Gordon choosing Stevens. And look, let's stop going back to the RFA situation. Many FA's do the same. Otto Porter did it this season.

4. He's avoided any stupid signings, which enables Utah to keep Hood and Exum if they want.

5. Not so sure GS has their super team after 2 more years. This season is Year 1 of the luxury tax. From what I read, their payroll and taxes is going to be around $190M. Next season? Maybe about the same? But then Thompson and Green come up for new contracts. And GS will be subject to the repeat offender penalties, IINM, from being over the tax in 3 of 4 years. Not sure pockets are deep enough to pay well over $200m. We'll see.

Not signing Hayward to $35m/year may be a blessing in disguise. We have a lot talented young players and the best center in the league, who also is very young.

That wasnt the deal we were signing Haywrd to tho.

It would have been like 30,31, and 32 w/ a 4th year option which he will probably decline. His next contract is the contract that will be hard to swallow. This one is still a very fair deal that anyone would want to pay.

Dennis Lindsey had a really good draft. The trade for Ricky Rubio's for a late first-round pick is a coup. The Ingles deal is fine. Washington is matching Brooklyn's max offer for Otto Porter. Losing out on Gallinari doesn't really hurt us.

Now we need to trade Favors (who will probably walk anyway), trade Joe Johnson to wherever he wants to go, and pick up some young wing and PF talent.

Mitchell - incomplete but looks good so far.
Rubio - good player for nothing. A.
Hayward - epic fail. F to the highest degree.

IF Mitchell becomes an All star and Rubio takes a step forward, Lindsey did well.

If Mitchell and Exum don't become starters at minimum, Lindsey lost his job this summer.

I don't think Utah makes the playoffs this fall. We've lost too much and everyone else has gained too much.

We have no #2 player. Who is it? Hood? Ha ha. Ingles? Rubio? Yikes.
