(CNN) Salt Lake City, Utah - Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz NBA franchise announced Thursday evening that he will be leaving the NBA permanently after experiencing a traumatic flight that had to be turned around just minutes after takeoff due to a bird strike that disabled one of the engines. Mitchell's agent said that the player and Utah Jazz ownership had agreed to a buyout for an undisclosed amount of money. After the announcement Donovan Mitchell was seen at the SLC airport boarding a plane bound for Los Angeles, CA.
