Hayward now a Professional Gamer -- Too Funny

It's not like he is doing this seriously. He will still be training hard for Basketball. They are just letting him do it for the exposure. He is tapping into the gaming market for new fans too, furthering his "brand".

Holy ****, I was just talking to my friend about this and I figured out why Hayward is doing this. Why does Yao Ming make the All-Star team every year? Because a ton of Asian people vote him in, mainly Chinese. In many Asian countries, professional gaming is nearly as popular as professional sports. Starcraft 2 is currently the most popular competition game. By putting himself in the Professional Competition Gaming world, he will be exposing himself to many Asian basketball fans. INSTANT ALL-STAR GAME VOTES!

The funny thing is if Hayward gets detoured on the road to being Brandon Roy, there will be posts about how "he should spend less time playing video games." Hayward has a lot to live up to to keep the honeymoon going.

Yes, I could see SalmonHobo using this in the future as ammo if Hayward doesn't pan out.

I don't see SH getting bent about it, but the pendulum is vicious when it swings back. Having seen these boards long enough, every young guy has a honeymoon period where he's The Answer and every vet has Uncorrectable Flaws. Two years from now, Hayward could easily be the guy who wasted his talent playing video games while Draft Pick Guy is going to be the guy we 'build around.'

1. Brandon Roy has no knees/got injured.
2. There's nothing wrong with having fun in your spare time, the thing with AK is that he never got better from a skill standpoint, and every indication from everyone around him paints the picture that the guy just doesn't care that much about basketball.
3. If Hayward gets $80-something million then falls off a ****ing cliff and all we hear about his interests are StarCraft 2 and caps it off by getting his first and only (and MASSIVE) tattoo of ****ing Tassadar, then you better ****ing believe people will be on his case, and deservedly so.

Gordon only plays as the Terran, he would never get a tattoo of Tassadar.

No, Cyrone may be right. Hayward's with the best of the best in the NBA and considering his limited athletic ability, he needs to be practicing about 3-5 hours day, either on the court in practice or doing drills, shooting reps or lifting/working out. If he doesn't, he'll just always be an average player imo. I want more than that. So should he as this is his profession and hopefully his passion.

I read an interview Hayward did with IGN and he said he workouts for 6 hours a day.

For anyone interested.

Everyone wants to see us play basketball, I still train twice a day and I'm still a devoted NBA player -- that's my profession. I work out and play basketball probably 6 hours a day now. But the beautiful part about it is that I can decide what to do outside of that, and StarCraft is probably going to take a lot of that time.

Everyone will forget this. If Hayward plateaus to become Dunleavy Jr. (which is honestly fine since nobody remembers how good he almost became before he got hurt), Everyone will bitterly complain he plays video games. Then you'll post that link. But Everyone won't care, because Everyone will be too in love with new draft pick Magic McFugger at that point and Everyone will be terrified he won't get 49 minutes a game. This is how message boardery works.

What? We drafted a guy named Magic McFugger?

I can't wait to see this guy. Awesome.

You don't know about McFugger? He's got the swagger of Mo Almond, mental fortitude of Kirk Snyder, the feet of Curtis Borchardt, the good looks of Koufos, taller than Pavel, quicker than Raul, already has more tattoos than Desean Stevenson, and credible doctors swear he isn't all the way through puberty. I've already said too much, but the Jazz front office plan to lose every game for the next two years just to get him when he will be the number one guy in the draft. So it tickles me people think our FO has no long range plan.
