I remember that series very well. Oh, the media jumped on the Nug bandwagon. They were the next great team, but the jazz were
supposed to be on their way down (gee, how often did we hear that?)
The 94 Nugs were a lot like the 07 Warriors. They win a first round series vs the #1 seed and suddenly think they are going all the way.
They get big egoes and act like jerks.
Then both teams, instead of becoming contenders, went down quickly. All their players jumped ship very soon.
When the jazz put the Nugs away, the nug players all cried in the lockerroom about how they got screwed by the refs, especially Bison.
They conveniently forgot that they got the majority of calls in the games in Denver.
I still remember in game 6, jazz have a chance to win, and Reggie Williams gets mad at Horny and litterally punches him with a fist to the
nose and the refs called a foul on Horny!
Interesting group of players? Depends on what you find interesting:
Mutombo kept changing teams and I got sick of him always acting like he should be the focal point of the offense, and I really got sick of
him always wagging his finger after a block shot. The best highlight ever was when he did that and while he was wagging his finger, someone
grabbed the rebound and stuffed it, hitting Deke in the face.
Mahmoud was a whacko. His big stink about not wanting to stand for the national anthem....geez. He didn't last long after that.
Bison....he whined all the time about SLC having some kind of stink, constantly whined about the refs, gets on the bulls 97 team and suddenly
thinks he deserves a big contract.
Laphonso...he never really did much that I could remember. The jazz wanted to sign him in 99, but Laphonse prefered to play in Atlanta so he
could go into broadcasting...hmmm, I haven't seen him doing any of that lately
