SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Mike Conley and the Utah Jazz won their first game at Vivint Arena this season with a victory over the visiting Los Angeles Clippers.

The Jazz hosted the Clippers at Vivint Arena on Friday, January 1.

After dropping the first two home games of the season to the Minnesota Timberwolves and Phoenix Suns, the Jazz defeated the Clippers, 106-100.

Utah jumped out to an early 12-point lead following a great first quarter by Mike Conley. The veteran guard scored 12 of his 33 points during the opening quarter.

The Jazz maintained their advantage into the halftime break and stretched their lead with a 33-point third quarter.

Los Angeles made a push in the final minutes of the game but it wasn’t enough to overcome Utah.

Conley scored seven of Utah’s final nine points of the contest.

He also buried seven triples on the night.

In addition to Conley, Utah’s Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, Joe Ingles, and Derrick Favors all scored in double figures.

The Jazz shot 46.1 percent overall and 35.7 percent from three-point land.

Los Angeles finished the game shooting 38.8 percent from the field, including 39.4 percent from beyond the arc.

The Clippers were led by Paul George’s 25 points and Kawhi Leonard’s 20 points.

With the win, the Jazz improved to 3-2 on the season.

Utah’s next game is the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday, January 3. The Jazz and Spurs are slated to tip-off at 5 p.m. (MDT) on AT&T SportsNet and 97.5 FM.

It will be the opening contest of a seven-game road trip for the Jazz.
