Owners today voted to reimburse Thunder "several million $" for rule change new CBA applied retroactively to Durant's contract, per sources.

Interesting that the league votes to pay out here, the article explains the reasoning, but also is clear that other teams got caught in the same dilema.

Sometimes I just shake my head at the millions of dollars thrown around by these guys. They talk like 10 million is nothing. $100,000 would be life changing for me, and they wouldn't even notice.
 
1000 bucks is nothing for us (well not nothing, but wouldn't drastically change our lives), it is life changing to some poverty stricken kid in India.
 
Covering part of his salary, but the rule change in the CBA may have very well cost OKC a championship. They had to dump Harden because of the difference in salary amounts.
