What's new

Game Thread Nov 04, 2024 06:30PM MT: Utah Jazz @ Chicago Bulls

Added to Calendar: 11-04-24

The Jazz are massively better with Flip on the floor. He plays with a cocktail attitude and it's already rubbing off on the guys. That's a stat you can't see on a sheet.

I think this is the key takeaway from this game- Collins' has decided he has to put in some effort to get traded to a better team, and with the injury he's getting more on court minutes to show off. I'm just surprised at how much a little more energy makes to his game- it elevates it considerably.
Collins is a good player that got stuck on a losing team. It's hard to get motivation to play hard on a tanking team that puts much worse players ahead of you. If he gets traded to a contender (like Gafford last year) we will see a very different John Collins.

Yep, he has his motivation, now it'll be interesting if he has the fortitude to keep the energy level high, because no one's going to trade for him based on one or two good games...

Collins isnt playing to get traded. He is a blue collar guy who is trying hard to help his team no matter what. Thats the rep he has always had, and that he has backed up in his interviews and with his play despite being in bad teams for a while now.

Doesnt mean he wont get traded.. but he isnt the worst guy to keep around either. Locker room / on court leader who definitely puts in the work in games as well as in the gym.

Collins was a quality player before he was on the Jazz, was a terrible player the first half of the season last year, and was really good in the second half. Now it appears he has adjusted to a completely different style of basketball that doesn’t even suit his strengths. It just took him some time. Credit to him for making developments in his game.

Remember how horrible Conley looked in his first year? Sometimes players need time to adjust, and for a player like Collins going through a dramatic shift in how he’s used I think that’s understandable.

We’ll see if he can keep this up….but if so he will be a valued player in this league, for the Jazz or another team. I would bet on him being on the Jazz past his current deal before Sexton.

Damnit we played this one completely wrong. I mean it was a pipe dream we could go 0-82, but still, this was a losable game. Man did we blow it. We are opening the door for an obviously tanking sixers team to lock up yet another #1 pick and solidify their team with Embiid for the next few years and then into the future. Not to mention the bucks. Why are we so bad at tanking anyway? Ugh.

You forgot THT was on the other team. Totally changes Tankamatics.

Also it looks like Brice got benched in the 2nd half?

The dude has some of the slowest decision making processing on the team. He throws risky passes and he throws them extremely late. Im fairly confident in saying Juzang is a better prospect.

Brice looks way better to me this season vs last season, so it will be interesting to see how his development progresses. I'm still really low on him, but purposefully being slow to react to anything he does.

His defense has been solid. His shoot looks good, but he just cant process the game very quickly. I wouldnt bench him completely, but I would continue to play Juzang more.

I don't disagree, I think Juzang is going to be important to make our offense look reasonable and to provide the spacing for our other guys to develop.

The counter argument is that we have Juzang locked up already and can take a longer term approach with him. It's probably more important to know what we have in our rookie contract players.

Hardy subbed him in early. 30 seconds later he let Dosunmu score an uncontested lay-up with 0 effort. Immediate timeout from Hardy and a long, angry stare. Next possession out of the timeout and Brice throws it behind the Bulls bench into row 4.

I think we're close to the point of Hardy being done with him.
