Off-Season Rumblings

Very interesting, crazy Giddey is still 21 after the rollercoaster it's felt like

Karl Malone's history is disgusting, and truly messed up, and if we traded for Giddey the media around it would be exhausting drawing comparisons. And I am not an expert on the topic so please correct me, but I honestly feel a bit bad for Giddey with it all. From my understanding he slept with a girl who he met at an 18+ club who ended up being under age. It seems a sucky way to have your reputation torpedo'd. I mean he was barely 21 when it happened, that's a way less problematic gap than most celebrities (assuming she was 18 at least which would be a fair assumption at an 18+ club).

Hopefully he bounces back next season
I don’t ever remember hearing a peep about this from the media the entire time Malone played here

We have no idea when any of the Giddey stuff happened. Because nothing concrete was ever explained. It's a non issue and not really comparable to Malone at all

so.... what are you trying to say?
(If these guys are really available and the Jazz have interest), the gap between the price is likely to be much higher than the gap between the quality.

Secondarily, if we go after a do-it-all big playmaker type, I think there's some advantage to go with the lower usage one if they're both distinctly below average (and nearly equal) in TS%.

(Just speaking of player quality.)

I watched a lot of the Pistons this year and Cade is a very good player, but miscast as a franchise #1 option, when he should really be a role player. I'm not sure how much of his high usage/low efficiency was due to his supporting cast and out of necessity vs him wanting to be the guy. My feeling when watching was it was out of necessity, so I would be ok with the Jazz making a run at him, but no idea why Detroit would do that. I'm not sure what I would be willing to give up, but probably not enough for Detroit to even consider it.

I'm warming up to the idea of Giddey based on the numbers I provided earlier in this thread. For those that missed it, he is a huge positive on offense, helps the offense to move the ball when he is on the court, and it actually outweighs his negative effect on defense. I don't love weighing in on things that I don't know the details, but I think the most logical explanation for what happened with the underage girl is that she lied about her age and he didn't know. It's difficult for me to overcome my biases against Giddey, and so I'm still not there as far as the Jazz going after him, but I'm more open to it than I have been in the past.

Bruh cmon Cade is not a role player

Role player is probably not the right word, but wasn't sure how best to describe what I think his ideal role is. I think he can be a high level starter, but I don't want his usage to be nearly as high as it has been.
He should have high usage, he's a point guard. He just needs better spacing and players to pass to. Also needs someone next to him that can create for him a bit so he can be a more efficient 3pt shooter.

I don't think he's capable of consistently creating easy shots for himself or hitting difficult shots when defenses focus on him. This is why I don't think he can be your highest usage player on your team. He should obviously look much better next to better players, everyone should.

Cade would be an amazing trade for us. I doubt he is available. Not necessarily the same type of player, but he is pretty much the same as Haliburton year 3. Both players are averaging about the same assists, rebounds, and turnovers. Their shooting percentage is close (~45%) with a slight edge to Haliburton, but Cade was taking a lot more shots and scoring 8 ppg more on a much worse team with no spacing.

Him and Lauri would really work well together and even Sexton fits pretty well with him. If Keyonte makes a jump they could play together. Although who knows what we are giving up if by some crazy chance he was available.

Its crazy how so many people think the world of potential draft pick players, yet at the same time judge young players in the NBA, especially ones on bad teams, so harshly.

Yeah, it;s crazy, people are so hyped for picks that will probably be in the 20's but balk at a legit top 3 prospect in any draft type player.

Your problem is you watched a lot of pistons games. You’re type casting him wrong because of the team he plays for.
nobody balked at cade. love to have him. just not giving them lauri and 9 first round picks to make it happen. yes i exaggerate for effect, but the article wanted too much to make it happen.
No one said anything about trading Markkanen for him. Also when you have assets and picks coming out your *** you generally get high balled it won’t hurt the jazz. The underrated part of this trade is that Cade makes Sexton a much more viable player who by the way is much more efficient than Key.

I was getting all revved up reading that then saw the name lol

So why not go after both Giddy and Cade? Trade Lauri to OCK for picks and Giddy; trade picks, JC and Tyler for Cade...
We get younger potential stars and could still go after another AS...

Just a thought...

I agree but think we actually should go after both...
