A lot of variables at play. Foremost is will they retain their top 8 protected pick this year? Will ace develop? Will their front court mesh and can Lauri thrive at the 3? Will keyonte remain this good?If I had to guess I’d say this team will be good next year. Top 6 in the west
they have a great core going forward
Gave up too many first round picks
Memphis cleaning house just like that? I thought JJ would stay fo sure. Where is Ja going then?
This is a good time to remind everyone that the Mavericks only received ONE first-round pick for Luka Doncic. The Grizzlies just got THREE for Jaren Jackson Jr.
I don’t see how this makes sense for the grizzlies
wait. Kessler, JJJ, and Lauri front court is actually nasty.
This is actually phenomenal for the Jazz damn
Massive shake-up — Utah clearly going all-in on the rebuild.
Man this JJJ trade is straight-up insane. Trading a 25-year-old two-time All-Star and former DPOY who’s literally in his prime, before they even entertain moving Ja Morant? That’s not just accelerating a rebuild, that’s doing donuts in the parking lot while the car’s still on fire Grizzlies basically said “we’re collecting picks and cap space like it’s Pokémon cards” and now they’ve got something like 12 firsts in the next seven years plus that monster $28M+ trade exception. Meanwhile Utah just went full send—adding JJJ next to Lauri Markkanen gives them maybe the tallest, most switchable big-man duo in the league overnight. Feels like the Jazz are finally done tanking and ready to at least compete in the West instead of just developing prospects forever. I’m still processing how quickly they moved a guy who was supposed to be the defensive cornerstone for the next decade. Either Memphis knows something we don’t about Ja’s future or they just decided to YOLO the whole franchise in the opposite direction. Wild times. What y’all think—genius reset or absolute malpractice?
I’m guessing the Jazz don’t know JJJ sucks?
Keyonte George and jjj pick and rolls?
There’s gotta be more moves because this makes no sense for either team
Welp… so much for my Utah Walter Clayton Jr gift

That’s a massive shake-up for both teams. Grizzlies moving Jaren Jackson Jr. signals a real reset, while the Jazz load up on defense + picks for the future. Those three first-rounders could end up being the real headline here. Big risk, big potential on both sides
WOAHHHHH JAZZ FLEECE
GRIZZ GOT ROBBED
Most random trade
What is Utahs vision at this point with this trade?
Wow so JJJ was worthless. Zero demand. Now they need to trade Ja to Houston. Total rebuild
they banished Jaren to the shadow realm
Massive shake-up. Grizzlies cash in Jaren Jackson Jr. for picks and depth, while Utah goes all-in on a true star. Huge win-now move for the Jazz.
Man that's a great trade for Utah. Been watching them since Nurk joined and they're fun to watch...the talent on that team is nice.
How does this make sense for the Grizzlies?
Jazz get instant impact, Grizzlies stockpile assets. As an NBA fan, I’m beyond excited to see how this shakes out
Out of NOWHERE. Let the chaos begin!
good trade… both teams won..
Danny Ainge is an all-time all-level winner!
Perfect fit next to Markkanen and George.
Jazz finally trying to win?!
An actual meaningful trade!
If this is real, Memphis just blew up their entire core for what? Clayton’s unproven, Hendricks has potential but that’s it, and the rest are role players. Trading JJJ and that depth for picks feels like tanking disguised as rebuilding.
Utah has a team now.
This trade just turned two fanbases into amateur capologists overnight
Yeah nah, this is the kind of trade you reread three times just to make sure it’s real.
JJJ to Utah is actually nasty on paper. Him + Lauri + Kessler/Walker frontcourt? Defense stays elite and spacing improves. Grizzlies getting 3 firsts is cool for rebuild but this feels like Jazz won this deadline already
This doesn’t seem to make sense for the Grizzlies
Danny Ainge is going to look good at the end of this. JJJ is only 26 years old. Utah needed to shake up their roster as some guys weren't playing hard much to Will Hardy's dismay
Memphis really traded JJJ for Kyle Anderson and George Niang Grizzlies front office needs to be investigated
Wow, that was not expected
This gotta be the most random blockbuster deal I’ve seen in a minute
This is a really good move by Utah
There’s way too many mid players in this trade who won it
grizz got finessed
Georges Niang is getting thrown as extra piece in every trade I swear
OMFGGGGGGGGGGGGGGTGF
What the.... I actually love this move for the jazz
Never heard of such deal. This is massive. It’s like getting a new team at once.
JAREN GOT SENT TO HELL????
JJJ to Utah is a massive swing …Jazz loading up for the future while Memphis resets hard. Three firsts is no joke
who the hell does the Jazz think they are?!!!
Danny Ainge is a maniac
Lauri, JJJ & Keyonte Kessler + Filipowski Bailey Not bad … not bad at all
Wow, Grizz trading JJJ their DPOY anchor for 3 Jazz picks & vets like Slow Mo? Bold reset around Ja, but rim protection takes a hit. Jazz? JJJ + Lauri = nightmare frontcourt duo. Ainge strikes again!
0 rumors about this trade
When done tanking this season to (hopefully) get a top 3 draft pick, they’ll be ready next season
Jazz won't makes noise this year. Still eyeing top 8 pick. Next year they'll make a push for top 5 seed in the West depending on off season trades. They have a good front court now. Not a championship team but they'll make noise and get 1 or 2 all-stars next season
They add a top 5 pick this year, next year they can make the playoffs
Griz Ownership committing literal crimes against humanity and figurative against this fanbase
Jaren was the one guy I really thought we wouldn't move. Damn. This hurts. He's still young, too. Does anyone know if we got the Jazz's pick this year as part of the trade? "Three future picks" makes me think not
i literally had to leave a zoom meeting because i started crying. this was worse than when they broke up the GNG crew. i do not understand this at all.
Man I love JJJ and wish we could’ve done something to make it work. I’m hurting
Trading Jock is brutal, dude been giving everything he has
Lmao 3 meh picks 4 worthless players im deceased, 5 more years of tanking
Can we just cancel the rest of the day….go home and just console one another? asking for me
2027 1st from Utah
2027 1st from Lakers
2031 1st from Pheonix
Honestly the Utah one may be the only good 1st round pick in this whole thing
I’m heartbroken.
So many thoughts, but the first of which is why are we trading with Danny Ainge for big assets.
That man put the team on his BACK for the better part of a decade, and we’re sending him to UTAH. It ain’t right….
Shocked that it was Jaren first to go. Truly end of an era. I know this needed to happened but I’m still devastated. And Jitty I’m not super impressed with the haul. I am glad we have picked a direction. Who would have thought at the start of the season we would be blowing it up by the trade deadline
This is the most Ainge move of all time
Ainge found out he could get an borderline all-NBA, DPOY level guy for 3 picks and filler players. Ainge hasn't reeally ever cared about the whole time line thing, cared way more about just getting good players in the door when you think you can find someone for cheaper than they should be valued at.
Of the 3 firsts, 1 looks like it will be in the mid-high 20s. Another is the only FRP from his own team, and if he can get a good roster for next year that will also be in the high teens or 20s.
This is the exact type of value hunting he has always done.
Cavs, Jazz, Wolves and Lakers should all be playoff-level teams next year after this trade. So those picks aren't very valuable. The Suns pick could be, but it's 5 years away.
George-rookie guard?-Lauri-JJJ-Kessler is a super fun lineup, dare I say spooky
Surely they’re banking on Ace Bailey with this move.
If you’re gonna build with Keyonte at PG than a JJJ-Kessler frontcourt is certainly the way to do it
Super-duper sized lineup:
Keyonte George (6’4, 185)
Ace Bailey (6’9, 200)
Lauri Markkanen (7’1, 240)
JJJ (6’10, 242)
Walker Kessler (7’2, 245)
A starting 5 of Key, Ace, Lauri, JJJ and Kessler is unironically really good lol tons of length, versatility, and 4 good-great shooters
I love this finally Utah trying to be good. They're cooking
Ainge trading picks is just as shocking as the Luka trade.
Wow that’s so cheap..
Utah fleeced Memphis value wise, these picks aren’t very good
The phoenix one is but the rest aren’t gonna be great imoWow, looks like the Jazz are making moves. Lauri and JJJ could be a legit combo to watch. Exciting.
what the actual **** is this ****?
Ok I almost doubted ainge but this makes sense
So two picks in the 20s and a dice roll
2027 is supposed to be a terrible draft so getting out of it and keeping 2026 is huge.
Why are people saying this is good for the Jazz? Their team is still going to suck. JJJ doesn't add much and he'll be way overpriced.
So that's why that one Utah lawmaker wanted to allow firearms in the arena.
Cracks me up that you can trade picks 6 years in advance
Utah trying to contend is something I shouldn't be surprised about but here we are
I think they'll tank for the rest of the season. And hope for one of the top 5 guys then try to compete next season
I can't think of the last time a tanking team just wheeled around and decided to start competing at the trade deadline, was Ainge visited by three ghosts?
Those picks absolutely blow and they got nothing players? What is Memphis cooking?
Omg Danny and Austin kinda fleeced. They can still tank and didn’t give up much of their own picks other than the 27 pick. If they tank and get a top 5 pick, ohh mama
so only 1 of their own picks?
The tank continues
Theyre gonna find a mystery season ending injury when JJJ does his pre trade physical.
this feels like a really underwhelming haul. feels like a good chance none of these picks end up in the lottery, and i’m not exactly sold on any of the players the jazz sent
I thought Jazz were tanking for a top 3 pick?!
Jazz could get JJJ, Lauri, keyonte, ace, Kessler and a potential top 3 pick on their team next year. Bright future if they don’t fall hard in the lottery
Ainge going to flip JJJ for Giannis
Damn we are gonna see Lauri stop being “injured” next season
Keyonte gonna be the only player under 6'8" lmao.
The jazz better be the best team in 2030 or all of this was for nothing. :/ they’ve been trading picks and spots like mad for years now.
Utah making a win-now move? We are officially in the strangest timeline.
The Wolves and Cavs have eaten most of the value of their trade hauls. You've gotta move the picks eventually and he's a good building block
JJJ and Lauri will be rested a tonne to end this season.
Next year though: Top 8 pick in the super draft , Keyonte, Ace, JJJ, Lauri, Kessler, Sensabaugh.
Utah will be cooking soon.
****ing Ainge has been playing us like a fiddle for YEARS
It’s a weird one, but Utah will shut him down with a phantom injury
I think Keyonte George is pretty legit, so Ainge must think so too if he’s pulling the trigger on this. A core of Keyonte, Lauri, JJJ, and Kessler is pretty legit IMO. Vince Williams will be a great glue guy on the wings and if Bailey pans out that will be a bonus.
Keyonte took a huge leap that I don’t think even the Jazz front office expected, (hence why they drafted and now traded Clayton), Markkanen is back to his all star self, and a lot of their young players are playing much better (Bailey, Sensabaugh, etc). They’re at the point where they don’t even have enough play time for the mid/late first round players they draft in the future. Might as well pray you get a top 3 this year and then see where your team is at
I kind of like it lol Lauri is more of a big forward anyways, a lineup of JJJ, Lauri and Kessler could be filthy
JJJ even sniffs a cold or injury (which he does regularly) he’ll he sitting out weeks and weeks.
Lauri + JJJ is insane combination of Height and shooting. 1: Keyonte, 2: Ace, 3: Lauri, 4: JJJ, 5: Kessler.
Disgustingly long.
I kinda love it, but I still think they’re a move or two away from any real competing.
I'm guessing they think they have enough pieces to be competitive next year and actually start building something. the wolves and Cavs picks aren't worth much anymore and you can't keep tanking forever, eventually owners are gonna get pissed that they're leaving tens of millions of dollars on the table
Buy low, try not work sell high. They really have quality coach, with this move on paper they have very good squad, they have high chance to get a very good prospect at this draft. Imo pretty good deal.
Jazz actually trading picks for a player? Wow
Jazz Triple Tower lineup of Lauri, JJJ, and Kessler is some 2K type ****
The Jazz it kinda does they have too many picks anyways and a move like this maybe not for this year but next could be really good when they get Kessler back that lineup will be huge lol
Ja has to be next, right?
Idk how Ace, Lauri, and JJJ fit together long term but **** it I guess
Keyonte is all star caliber and Kessler once he comes back is a top 5 rim protector. And they're not stopping the tank this year so they'll get one more player.
Utah just got better wow
Put this in the trade machine it would probably just respond “why”
So you’re telling me that Jaren Jackson Jr. and John Kochnar and Jock Landale and Vince Williams Jr. are all going to play for the Jazz now? The only plausible explanation is that somebody high up in Utah’s front office is betting the over on how many J words can be said during a single television broadcast. Gambling is truly ruining sports and this might be the most egregious example of it we’ve ever seen
Wow JJJ to Utah is wild did not have that in my bingo card
Where the F did that come from??
Jock Landale is the most 1950s white guy athlete name I've ever heard
Danny Ainge is currently being investigated for grand larceny. How does he keep getting away with trading a bag of chips and some maybe picks for an All-Star big man?
GMs out here just trying to get fired
Ainge trading AWAY picks? What universe is this?
Memphis to Utah is gonna be a crazy culture shock.
Jazz going from bottom of the west to bottom of the west with this trade
JJJ with keyonte? Utah’s future looking bright.
This hurts Detroit's chances of acquiring Jaren Jackson Jr. from the Memphis Grizzlies
Danny Ainge traded a carton of Farr's Ice Cream and some Miss Cavanaugh's Chocolates for JJJ
What an odd trade. Precursor to Ja trade? (or incarceration)
Bold move from the Jazz, it feels like they might need one more piece through trade or FA to push in the West
This feels like a April Fools headline
One of my dawgs reaction was “They traded him for a frozen cup and a hot pickle”
Damn, they traded JJJ, J, J, and VJ and only got back one J?
If I’m a Jazz fan, Markkanen, George, Kessler, Bailey and Jackson start to look like a team.
What a shocker that a trade that wasn't speculated about incessantly is the one that actually happens. I thought this year would be different!
Bro if Utah becomes good again this quickly and Giannis goes to Minny or Portland…
Forget this conference this is a division from hell
I feel like I’m taking crazy pills reading all of these comments how this is somehow a great move by the Jazz. Lol
Utah has now Kessler/Lauri/JJJ. What on earth are they going to do with all these dudes? And then even this year Nurkic has been awesome and Flipowski has been solid. So are they going to try to play Lauri at the 3? And then they give up picks to do it? What if this year they end up in the 3rd spot and Boozer is sitting there. Now what? Just a bad trade for the Jazz IMO
When you missed one day of school and there were 3 fights, a pizza/ice cream party, movie time and your crush was asking about you.
Walker has to be gone.
Also think this is a really good move from the Jazz. Lauri+JJJ on the frontcourt is a lethal duo and I think they expedited their rebuilding process once they saw Keyonte George basically be an All-Star type player.
If Ace starts to reach his upside, I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but the Jazz are going to be spooky next year.
Gonna smash the over on Utah
Jazz are gonna get pretty expensive soon with George and Kessler extensions soon and obviously with the Lauri contract ?
Finally Lauri Markkanen can come out of hiding? No more tanking for the Jazz??
Lineup of Keyonte, Ace, Markannen, JJJ, Kessler is interesting, and absolutely massive. I’m intrigued for next year
3 first and no players of real interest for JJJ is nuts… I can’t believe any of the other interested parties wouldn’t meet that
they have a great core going forward
Gave up too many first round picks
