Jazz rookie center Enes Kanter is considering playing professional ball in China next season if the NBA lockout persists.

Kanter's agent, Max Ergul, told The Salt Lake Tribune on Friday that his client has serious offers from at least two teams. Ergul does not want Kanter to miss another year of basketball, and he will seriously entertain the offers if the lockout stretches into late September.

Kanter will play for Turkey in the 2011 EuroBasket tournament, which is scheduled from Aug. 31 to Sept. 18 in Lithuania. He is expected to be scouted by the Chinese teams that have made the offers during the tournament.

If the lockout does not end by mid-September and Kanter does not play professional ball overseas, he plans to work out in Chicago with trainer Tim Grover. Kanter will not return to Kentucky during the lockout.

Kanter was selected by the Jazz with the No. 3 overall pick during the 2011 NBA Draft.

If Kanter doesn't play basketball for another year I'll lose my mind.

Please go for it, Enes.

I just want to make sure he has an out-clause to return when the lockout ends.

I was going to say something about FIBA mandating that a player be released whether there's a clause or not, but then I realized Kanter's not under contract and that the FIBA rules don't apply there.

Long story short, I agree. Although ultimately, I just want the kid to play. Whatever has to happen, he just needs to get on a court and log as many minutes as he can.

I think his agent will push for him to sign a contract whereever just to earn something back through Kanter having paid for his out-of-state tuition at UK.. oops I didn't say that.

Watch some team will convince him to do a multi year deal.

I don't think that will happen. Kanter could've and should've played in Europe for the last two years, but he chanced it going the American route because the NBA is his goal and didn't want to be locked down to any overseas deals or presumably even stereotypes.

That is 100% correct. No chance that Enes does anything at all to risk not being able to play the first game back. Also keep in mind that Mehmet, Enes' father, is very wealthy and Enes' dream is to play in the NBA .. not to get rich. He obvously wants to earn his own money, but it's truly more about playing for the best league in the world.

If Kanter or any of our players get hurt....I'll lose my mind.

No more danger than if he is playing for the Jazz. If the lockout goes a full year, I'm in favor of the young guys signing contracts in Europe or Asia. They all need PT to develop. Sure the competition won't be as good, but at least they can work on various aspects of their games. These guys will NOT be signing long-term deals. They'll all have outs in their contracts to return to the NBA once the lockout is lifted.

I'm all in favor of players like Kanter playing too. We are dying to see them play, and they need the development. We'll all be devastated though, if any of our good players get hurt while playing for someone else.
