I think this belongs in some other tds or trump conspiracy theory thread along with Russiagate and the “fine people” ********. This is so dumb. You should look into the step act if you think Trump is some crazy racist.

I have admitted I was wrong so many times. That fact that you think I haven't says a lot about you and nothing about me. I am wrong all the time.

I used to be a ****ing Ayn Rand loving Objectivist style libertarian. I eventually realized I was wrong. You might think you're some kind of libertarian and I doubt you know what I even mean by an Objectivist type libertarian. I was so ****ing libertarian I had become devoted to a small sub-class of the ideology. I could have a pro-libertarian debate with you and win, easily.

I can literally hear this in trumps voice. “Nobody is wrong more than me, and nobody knows as much about libertarians as I do”. “I doubt you know as much about objectivist libertarianism as I do.”

So essentially you became a small minority sub class with extreme political views at least once before huh? You don’t say?
 
I'm a pretty big fan of Linus Tech Tips and maybe two months ago on the WAN show (if you know you know) they talked about the moderation of their forum. They have shifted to a more aggressive type of moderation and they (Linus and Luke) talked about how that has positively affected their forum. With minor effort and aggressive enforcement, and even shadow banning trouble makers, their forum is better than ever.

With intentional misinformation trolls, bad faith actors, and just all around horrible people flooding a forum there is no hope if there is not aggressive moderation.

This site needs active moderation, and it clearly doesn't have it. In my humble opinion the clock is ticking. Either moderation happens or the devoted users fall and are overrun by the trolls. Then you have a forum of nothing but trolls and bots.

It could be made easier with a little effort applied in the right places. Not sure what you don't understand about that. You're like "Oh gosh, why doesn't the internet just behave itself?"

There are bad actors on your forum making your forum worse for everyone else. If you lack the ability to identify who the worst of the worst amongst them are, the ones who NEVER engage in civil or productive dialogue then I don't know what to say.

The example I gave was from Linus Tech Tips where they discussed growing toxicity on their forum, a forum about tech. They had been essentially taking your approach of hands off, treat everyone equally as if everyone is there with good and honorable intentions. It wasn't working so they identified the primary sources of the toxicity. They found that there were common actors in most of the conflict, so they shadow banned them. Their forum became significantly less toxic. Boom, done.
