Trade for Butler

Send Burks, Burke and Hood for Butler.

Exum
Butler
Hayward
Favors
Gobert

Or, send Hood, Burke and #12 for Butler.

Hell, I'd do Gobert for Butler straight up.

Exum
Butler
Hayward
Favors

Then go sign Noah. And still get a starting PG.

Chicago won't do first idea. They jump on a Gobert swap though. Good thing Utah isn't dumb enough to trade Rudy.

Kind of funny you think we'd be shocked at how little we could get for Rudy, yet you think we could trade him for Butler.

You would keep Gobert over adding an All Star? You realize that Butler's level of play is Gobert's best case scenario?

Hell yes i keep Rudy. Completely different types of players. I would love Butler, but he doesn't completely change a game when he's in like Rudy does. Just look at the net ratings with or without Rudy, even with his offensive challenges we're a tonne better with him, and given a choice i would much prefer his type of leadership than Butler's questionable style.

Noah is beaten up junk

Even with no Exum and both Rudy and Favors missing significant amounts of time, Utah finished 2nd in the league in fewest points allowed per game. But sure, let's get impatient because of injury troubles, and tear down the defense to improve the offense.

You and Frank can lead the one step forward and two steps back campaign to building an NBA team.

Gobert is the Jazz's entire defensive identity and ability. And the defense is the only thing proven to be good about this team.

So yeah, let's just get rid that.

Gobert's best case is turning into a 6'7 SF who can't shoot, not liked in the locker-room, and publicly criticizes his coach?

I would trade Favors for Butler. Then trade Hayward for #3 and draft Jamal Murray. At #12 draft best big available.

PG Exum, Murray
SG Hood, Murray, Burks
SF Butler, Hood
PF Lyles, #12, Jared Dudley
C Gobert, #12, Pleiss, Withey

I love Butler. Maybe second after Kawhi in that kind of player list. But you don't trade a player like Rudy when you have a chance to turn him into a monumental center. You just don't. Esprcially when he is so willing to get even better. Staying in town for summer instead of NT. I would feel insulted. Get rid of players that you don't get or plan to get anyhting out of instead. Don't have to be Butler.

Chicago isn't going to dump him, and the Jazz don't have the spare assets to get it done. But I would be thrilled to have Jimmy Butler.

I worry that Rudy has the body type that will be injured 1/4 to 1/3 of the season, every season (with starters mins). This should be more concerning but doesn't see much attention.

I like believing that his injuries were based on coming into a season where the league is more ready to him than before without being prepared induvidually fitness level-wise and instead coming off a tough NT schedule. His plans for this summer corrects my belief.

Being in shape can only take you so far though, and when your limbs are that long... your center of gravity is so high... your motor runs so fast... when your ankle-to-hip length is like 4.5 feet long... those things provides a lot of lateral movement and torque on those knees and ankles. very tall, lanky, skinny guys (and extremely heavy guys) get injured a lot. Rudy is the definition of lanky, and is IMO likely to get significantly hurt each season if he's subjected to 35 mins a night.

Maybe he can learn alternative and smarter ways to cover space. He can use his step length against small players by keeping smarter positions since his three steps to reach the shooting spot of the guard means the guard's 5-6 steps. It will also give him extra time to react.

For sure, those attributes and abilities are what make him an elite athlete and basketball player.. but sometimes a player's blessings can also be their curse, as far as wear and tear and maintenance. If he stays healthy and plays 78 (95%) of games, we have a chance for home court. if he plays 60 games (73%) of games, we very well don't even make the playoffs (again). Its a big investment and risk to put your eggs in the basket of an injury prone player, and i hope your optimism rings true and he plays smart, safe, and every game.
