Team G team writeup
Intangibles & Depth
• Basketball IQ: Team G has Bird, Pippen, Isiah, and Rodman – all high-IQ, clutch players.
• Defense: Team G has elite perimeter and wing defenders (Pippen, Rodman, Isiah, Mutombo).
• Scoring & Spacing: Team G with Ray Allen, Bird, and Dražen has more outside shooting.
• Versatility: Team G can switch more effectively defensively across 1–4
Matchup Dynamics
• Transition Game: Both teams are dangerous, but Team H might run better with Dr. J, Kemp, and Oscar.
• Half-Court Execution: my teams spacing and passing give them a slight edge.
• Clutch Factor: Bird, Isiah, and Pippen are proven killers in crunch time. Duncan is clutch too, but Team G has more killers.
Verdict: Team G in 7 Games
This would be a classic series, with both teams trading wins. But ultimately:
• Bird + Isiah + Pippen gives my team a more proven, cohesive late-game core.
• Their defensive versatility and outside shooting would help them in a modern, 7-game playoff format.
• Team H would struggle with spacing at times (Duncan, McHale, Dumars, Oscar not enough shooters).
Team H Writeup
For this matchup, I'm sliding Mark Price in as starting PG and bumping Oscar Robertson to SG. At 6'5" and 220 lbs, Oscar mutilates Ray Allen and Dražen Petrović—bullying them in the post for easy 25+ PPG and snatching rebounds over their slimmer frames. Price's elite 40%+ 3-point sniping explodes the floor, letting Oscar play point-forward and dish dimes to Duncan, Dr. J and McHale for open looks all night.
G's defense? Not scared. Oscar/Dr. J (and even Rick Barry's shifty scoring) are pure athletic freaks—they'll slip past Pippen/Rodman/Mutombo for layups and lobs. Price/Dumars hound Isiah and Pistol Pete into turnovers (15+ per game), while Petrović gets hunted into foul trouble. Any switching G tries? Disaster—our wings feast.
Oscar's length smothers Ray/Petrovic, Dumars clamps down on IT/Pete's flash , and Duncan/Cowens are tremendous shotblockers. McHale's post D frustrates Bird's fades, while Price/Dumars can force turnovers. We switch better and rotate smarter.
Transition? Lethal. Oscar/Dr. J = chaos. snag outlet passes for coast-to-coast dunks. And when going to a more set offense, Price/Rice/Dumars are great spacers.
In the clutch, Duncan is ice-cold, my outside shooting pulls defenders out, letting Oscar and Dr. J take over with fadeaways and drives. We win.
