Why the democratic party is in trouble

A new internal Democrat poll in swing districts released on Sunday showed that socialist Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) are extremely unpopular and that they may cost the Democratic Party the presidency and the House in 2020.
"Ocasio-Cortez was recognized by 74% of voters in the poll; 22% had a favorable view," Axios reported. "Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota — another member of The Squad — was recognized by 53% of the voters; 9% (not a typo) had a favorable view."
The firm that conducted the poll gave the results to Axios on the condition that it not be named because it works "with all parts of the party."

Interesting. Hopefully a moderate candidate can recognize the energy from the far left and tailor his/her campaign to address the antiestablishment sentiment that propelled trump and Obama to victories while maintaining a reasonable stance on other issues. There’s a lot of baggage with the far left that doesn’t need to be packaged by a formidable candidate.

I wouldn't classify Obama as anti establishment, he was definitely liberal but well within the traditions of the Democratic party, possibly their best traditions.

You're speaking of how he ended up governing. I think @Carbon13 was speaking more about how he was perceived and how he ran his initial campaign in 2008.

I don't think his campaign was anti establishment, I thought it was more nostalgic, he used a heap of old democrat iconography, almost put himself next to Kennedy and FDR as their natural successors, which was sensible because Johnson, Carter and Clinton were all dismal failures.

Not be named because it was rigged. So, is it true that you want to put women in prison for getting abortions and want to kidnap babies from immigrants so they can be put in an orphanage and get better parents?

Today I ordered a chicken burrito from Cafe Rio with black beans and mild sauce. In case you are wondering I did end up going with enchilada style.

I love cafe rio, but you didnt get the sweet pork? Da **** is wrong with you?

From some angles, maybe you're right. But everybody knew the special significance of his candidacy; and there was plenty of "change Washington" lingo.

Yeah but he's hardly an outsider candidate as a law professor and Harvard graduate, almost the definition of an establishment candidate.

I like Cafe Rio now and then. Sweet pork is the best option. They need better salsa. Something with some spice.
The salsa fresca is decently spicy. If it wasn't for their salsa fresca I would never eat there.

I just can't understand wanting sugar-meat.
