Well said.
Also the stats actually say this:
He took 440 three point shots in the season of which:
- Only 4 (<1%) where very tightly contested (0-2 ft of separation)
- 59 (13.4%) were tightly contensted (2-4 ft)
- 199 (45.2%) were open (4-6 ft)
- 170 (38.6%) were wide open (6+ ft)
So a total 83.8% of his shots were either open or wide open. People labeling him as a chucker are just complete frauds as basketball analysts. If you are the supposed the future lead guard who then doesnt take open shots the criticism would actually be more warranted.
His decission making on shooting is such a non-issue that its ridiculous to even talk about it. On passing he definitely had many moments where the decission making failed. But for shooting the only problem really was that he just didnt hit enough shots... but seeing he is a rookie who still needs a lot of work on his upper body strenght, its nothing we should worry about yet.
PS:
Dont ask where 8 shots have disappeared from his total of 440 (which is why the percentages or splits dont add up).... but those numbers are taken from NBA.com stats.
