Kanter watch

Man Enes Kanter be getting some hate. Found a post on the OKC forum by a guy who only has one post so far

"Seriously guys don't get too carried away with a good performance from Kanter, he has a long history of impressive but ultimately meaningless points and rebounding totals in soft situations and unimportant games. Once KD comes back and Kanter doesn't get the touches and shot attempts and you see what his D is like in playoff type games in limited minutes you'll find out.
Westbrook could make my grandma look good, he's seriously an animal."

Some dude made an account just to trash Kanter? Or at the very least his first post?

Sounds like one of the haters on Jazzfanz.

Good article to view it on the other side of things. How OKC views Enes so early after his debut.

Randy Renner from OKC had this to say about him after the Nuggets game.

Kanter has fit in immediately with group, as have the other mew guys, and the numbers Kanter has put up in his first teo games make you wonder what the heck the Jazz were thinking in letting him go. - See more at: https://www.insidethunder.com/#sthash.zzH2cN80.dpuf

Watching the thunder game, it halftime right now. Kanter doing ok, put up 6-4 so far but no assists(no TO either tho). Doesn't seem to be hustling as much as last two games I was hoping he would get better every game.

Kanter has been allowing 42.4% FG when defending a shot last three games. He has been allowing over just over 50% for the Jazz this season and last season(Rudy Gobert has been allowing 42.5% last three games as well). This stat doesn't take into account many factors is obviously and is flawed like any stat but is promising for Kanter and I hope he keeps it up.

Hot off the press. pretty well rounded, doesn't just blindly praise Kanter. Warns of the possible regression he might have. This last game vs Indiana he seemed more like his Utah self (which wasn't horrible) but wasn't as good as his previous two games.

Did you watch the game? He shut down Hibbert like few can. Defense is hustle. Hustle is motivation. Enes is emotional. Keep him happy and in a winning culture and he will give you what you need and get better in time.

He is putting in much better effort all around.

Makes me think poorly of a player who pouts and doesnt put in effort when he doesnt like his situation. He also really started giving up when he thought Gobert was going to take his starter position which is not what you want out of a player. You want someone who fights and plays harder. Maybe he keeps it up and is just a better fit in OKC than Utah but I think he will play well until times get tough or he doesnt get what he wants and you will see him struggle. Kind of reminds me of AKs situation with Utah mentally.

Also will OKC pay him the Max if he plays well through the end of the season? Because some crap team in the East will. The were too cheap to keep Harden but they are going to open the bank for Kanter? Kanter is not taking a discount to stay in OKC is he? I think Kanter wants to go to the big city spot light team. Maybe if they do something in the playoffs in OKC he will want to stay but I think he wants to go to NYC or Lakers team, which will have some cap room for him if they like him. I am curious to see what happens to Kanter next year.

I didnt want the Jazz to draft him, I jumped on board once he was here. Once him and Favors got time together I thought they were not going to fit with each other for some reason and wanted him traded. Although I still liked the idea of a three man rotation of Kanter, Favors and Gobert but clearly Kanter did not like that idea. This trade is only good for the Jazz if we land a good FA that uses the cap space from Kanter and Novak leaving or if Kanter gets the Max or near max money and does not live up to it.

I agree but I also question if a player has what it take to be good if he needs to be pampered and patted on the head. Players who are externally motivated and dont have that internal drive to be good seem to struggle over time. The NBA is a long grueling season if you dont have the drive to be great on your own and need someone to push you and keep you happy it gets rough. Not saying Kanter is mentally too weak to be good but I am worried about that aspect of him long term.

Watching the OKC game tonight. Kanter looking like he looked in Utah. OKC struggling to score so they are starting to feed Kanter. Still not recognizing double teams and traveling. He has gotten to the line though.

They are finally playing a team with a pulse, and it shows. Kanter can score, but he sucks at just about everything else. At one point he gets the ball deep in the past and is double teamed. Instead of passing he's forced into a travel, because him passing would be too much to ask.

Kanter against Hornacek's team and getting exploited in his gaps. This will be worse for him when he faces Jazz because the ones who know his gaps will be everyone from coach to locker room personnel.

Phoenix had an unreal start by the way. I bet OKC would flourish with another coach.

It's really crazy how Kanter looks a lot like his feet are cemented to the ground when he performs standing jumps on rebounds or shot contests.

OKC literally hung onto the game with bench and FT's the first half. Or it was a blowout. Suns are a dangerous fast paced team. Enes is pretty much back to being himself in the Jazz defensively. But he is trying to do better you can see the effort.

He reacts slow on both ends and this hurts his team many times.

**** those stats I posted earlier, Kanters defense hasn't improved and still sucks and will probably always suck. If his defense was pure hustle unathletic white guy style like Nick Collison/Jusuf Nurkic/Mitch McGary. His instinct is so bad.
