Kanter watch

Still matador on defense and it drives me crazy. I still cannot figure if he doesn't play defense on intention or simply doesn't have any idea what to do. I mean is that possible not to know anything about defense?

4 assits. He will have a triple double one day hehe.

16 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 assists this game.

So far Kanter averaging 15.8 points 10.2 rebounds 2.2 assists in 29.5 minutes per game.

If Kanter improves his defense he has potential to be a top 10 center in this league (Rudy Gobert is already a top 5 center in this league imo).

Kanter's weakness was never a box score, it was always the wool between his ears....

The two question marks on Kanter are his passing and his defense. His passing seems to be less of a question mark now than it was 5 games ago. His defense is still as bad as advertised.

I said once this:

Kanter was always the 5th option in the offence. Almost no existent runs made for him. The only runs for this center were those open jumpers he had to take. A center taking a lot of jumpers.
And this is in my opinion the reason why he had almost no assists in games or he was so egoistic. Because the only way to put his wished numbers was to be selfish, else he would have averaged sth like 7 points a game. Because he was ignored, he went on selfish mode.

And now he actually shows that he is actually capable of passing. He even showed in the 4th quarter today, that he can run the offence out of the post.

Still, he needs to improve more so actually he is an average defensive player.

That's BS. He was the first offensive option in Utah by quite a margin. He used to take more shots than both Favors and Hayward while on the floor... he was taking more shots than Trey. Also... he used to take more than 60% of his shots 10 feet from the rim or closer and 45% just right at the rim.

And just in case you think he's being used more now. He's taking 3 shots less per 36 with the OKC than he was with us. His usage was 25% with the Jazz and it's 21% now with the Thunder...

No, no, no.

First offensive option in Utah? Oh what? First of all he had many shots because many of them were putbacks. It is not like Gordon and Favors took the same amount of shots like Kanter. Half of Kanter's were from rebounding. 45% just right athe the rim described it perfectly. So half of his shots from there.

And the only "runs" for Kanter were these jumpers he had to take. Gordon balled for 10 seconds and gave Kanter a la "do it on your own". And they forced Kanter so many times to take bad shots because he was mostly the last option. So when they didn't know what to do, they forced Kanter to take a bad jumper from the midrange.

And this is why he was so selfish and why he was not passing at all. I admit that he was selfish and was not passing. But only those time (low post for an up and under, skyhook, etc) where he he could make a play for himself. So when he was double teamed, he didn't care much. He tried to make a shot because that was his chance to score. Or the putbacks occasionally, but no runs for him. How many times did you see him dunking? Yes, he is not very good vertically but still he can dunk. How many dunks do you remember made by him? 1 or 2 if any. People didn't feed him.

The difference in OKC is now, that he doesn't have this feeling of "I need to score, I need to score". And that he doesn't feel like he is ignored (besides Westbrook, who ignores everyone).

No, I don't think that he is used more in OKC. I think they should feed him more.

people don't understand upside and ceiling. Kanter is a beast, his weakness parts of his game will diminish and his strength parts will blow up to allstar proportions.. All because time and the right coach are in his future. The Jazz just never got it with his type of personality and potential.

İnşallah.

Homer glasses in full effect on this post.

I waited 3 years to register on here just because people would say this to me. I waited until Kanter leaved Jazz, so people can't say it. But yeah, my glasses are fine.

No they're really not.

You said this

So the Jazz pressured Kanter by relying on him too much at the same time as ignoring him? Only an uber homer could think this makes any sense.

You waited 3 years to start an account just to not be called a homer and then when he left you registered to defend him? Thanks for proving my point. Your posts all scream Kanter homer. To the point where everything you say good for him is essentially worthless because of the homeristic feel of your overall posts.
.
there is so much wrong with that post I quoted it's not even worth arguing point by point.
