Following potential 2015 draftees

I could see the Jazz drafting a complete upside pick from out of left field....like Myles Turner.

There are shooters on the FA market or available in trades, or maybe even available in the 2nd round.

Hood's handle is too lose to be a credible driver. I think this is the main edge Oubre has over Hood. But Hood looks born to be a spot-up shooter.

Winslow is a nice power slasher. His strength and toughness and his penchant for defense is what makes him different from Burks. The million-dollar question with Winslow is how his shooting will develop.

I don't think the Jazz is too concerned about that. DL is all about character, work ethic and potential. Remember when we were gonna draft Aaron Gordon last year? Same thing. Bad 3pt/FT shooter, but the Jazz was set on taking him until ORL snagged him right before us.

With Kanter gone, I don't see it as a left field pick at all. They are probably pretty high on him.

Ughh, I really hope we don't get Turner. That would be one of the worst picks IMO. I can see him being a complete bust and I don't think he really has that much potential (he isn't a good shooter or finisher). Looney seems like a guy who could excel in a backup role for the next 4 years and by his 3rd/4th be a starting caliber player coming off your bench who does all the little things.

Same here, no thanks to Turner.

Winslow is a really nice athlete for the wing position. His strength, foot speed, tenacity, ability to finish at the rim, and his ability to make the right pass all bode well. There's a lot of raw talent there to work with. Always go for the players with the better mobility and body control, and I think Winslow really has it for a guy with that kind of build.

I think to be a good driver you have to have some combination level of strength, handle, quickness, and shooting ability. Hood really lacks in 3 of those. He has to get a bit stronger and tighten the handle up.

Yeah if there is ever a "Jazz/Dennis Lindsey" type pick it has to be Winslow. It was Aaron Gordon last year, it's Winslow this year.

Regarding Turner, he's what PJIII was supposed to be, a long NBA big man with face-up skills and plus mobility. He needs to work on his body, but he's improved a lot during this college season. The question is whether he'll end up soft, even after he adds strength. Some people have compared him to Andray Blatche for his range and basic ball skills. An Andray Blatche with better IQ and rim protection is a nice player. Turner could be money from the high post and could be part of a high-low game with either Favors or Gobert. It's basically the same role as Porzingis would play. You could have Gobert or Favors guard the other team's better big.

Thing is, the Jazz have Burks and Hood at the wing. They'd have to get someone who is a clear upgrade. There's also quite a bit of talent in the league that could probably be picked up cheap. I wouldn't be surprised if Tony Snell or Doug McDermott could be picked up from the Bulls for a future first and second round pick.

I think Winslow will rise once we get closer to the draft. Duke should do well during the NCAA tourney and Winslow will get lots of chances to showcase his tenacity.

I have a feeling Porzingis would fall.

I think Stanley Johnson is a candidate to drop a few spots. Simply because other players are on the rise, not so much because he's slipping.

Picture Winslow replacing Ingles in our current starting line-up. Pretty cool. We need that kind of physicality.

Another thing---I don't think Winslow has much bust potential. He's like a Ronnie Brewer or maybe MKG-caliber athlete and defender, but his shot isn't broken. He may not become an offensive star, but I don't see much risk with Winslow. He's also a guy who will get to the line. He needs improve his free-throw shooting, obviously, but he's a guy who could be tough to keep out of the lane.

After tonight's win + Hood's progression off the bench + Burks coming back next year, I'm squarely on the camp of drafting WCS as our 3rd/4th big.

We need a quality defensive big on a cheap contract if we're gonna contend, and WCS has that potential.

I'm fine with this BUT only as plan B. We should go after Tomic hardcore. Pretty much its now or never attitude. Sell him on being apart of a Big 3 rotation with us,
and while not starting playing a big role. Why do I want Tomic so much? He's a vet, will up our talent level, is a team player, and is a GREAT insurance policy if Gobert or Favors have an injury.

If Tomic passes Im fine with taking a hard look at the FAs available and in the draft. The Tomic option makes us a serious player next year to actually win some playoff games imo.
So we have to shoot for the stars.

Looney is very intriguing to me from a defensive stand point as well, those long arms could come in very handy in stifling the opponents' offense, especially on the perimeter.

A lineup below could be one of the longest in the NBA, and that's not an exaggeration:

Gobert - 7'1
Favors - 6'10
Looney - 6'9
Hayward - 6'8
Exum - 6'6

You should see them in the shower....

But he'll want the right deal to come over... plus I really don't know if he's physical enough to play in the NBA? He might be a vet in Europe, but the NBA is a different kettle of fish all together.

I just think WCS will be cheaper, he's more physical, much better defensively ... no buyout issue, etc.

I dunno.. it depends who we have left on the board. If Winslow is there - take him first. If he's off and we're left with WCS, Looney, Oubre,...etc, ... then I'm going with WCS without even blinking.

The play at 0:58 reminds me of Kawhi's length. He does the exact same thing against the ball handlers and gets a ton of steals off of it. His length is really intriguing... I wonder if an NBA coaching staff can mold him into something close to Kawhi defensively(he's currently far from it)...

Oubre isn't really a power player. He'd need to add some strength and bulk. Currently, he's more finesse, like a Jeremy Lamb, but he's much scrappier and more tuned in mentally. Maybe he becomes like a Trevor Ariza or what some people hope Otto Porter will turn into.

See Porter...
