Following potential 2015 draftees

I can't be the only one who hates Looney's game. He goes wayyyyy too long without actually doing anything to be worthy of a top ten pick. Frequently looks disengaged.

He might be better in the pros than college, but yeah, he's not terribly exciting. I think Lyles and Portis are comparable prospects.

I'm a fan of WCS, but there's no way I pick him before Porzingis. Can you imagine the Jazz with Gobert, Favors, Tomic, Porzingis and Booker? Holy ****. That's a fun as hell front court that can match up with most any lineup that can be rolled out at them. Go big, small, shooters, defense? Whatever you need. . . we got that.

Haha.. plus we need to get the International ratio high...

Gobert
Porzingis
Hayward
Ingles
Exum

That's a Spurs like 4:1 ratio.

Here's some crazy talk, but I'll bet Porzingis can guard some 3s if he's got Gobert behind him to clean up his mistakes. Forcing SFs into long jumpers is a good defensive strategy most of the time. Porz would just have to chase them off the 3-pt line and make them drive into Gobert. Then he can space the floor on the other end a la Toni Kukoc.

I'm with you. Every time I watch him I get lower on him. I don't buy the "you should see how skilled he is in practice" argument either. I am sure if a player was awesome at something and it was good enough to use in the game It would pop out at sometime.

Suggested that once upon a time, and I think the general consensus was that he's not athletic enough to guard NBA 3's. The potential is intriguing though. . . Gobert, Favors, Porzingis, Hayward and Exum. That team is almost as long as my ****. Plus then you'd still have Tomic, Booker, Hood, Burks, Jingles/Millsap and Burke/Neto rounding out the bench.

Right, the thinking is that he can bother 3-pt shooters and force guys like Iguodala, Parsons, Batum, etc. to try to beat us with drives and mid-range jumpers. Those are low-percentage shots.

I like Porzingis and think he'll be able to do a lot of the things Chris Bosh does.

Guys like Mirotic and Ryan Kelley have been playing the 3 this season so I think he could. To get him we would have to move up in the draft. Very surprising if he does not go top 6.

The range of emotions the DX scouting reports give you.

1st half: **** yeah, get this guy he is a beast

2nd half: Jesus Christ this guy is a weenie who sucks at basketball.

After watching Mirotic dominate the last week I really want to like Porz. Offensively this dude seems like a potential monster, but his weaknesses make him seem like a weak version of Kanter.

He would be such a risky pick. He has no strength (and I'm not sure he has the body type that will fill out well) and no post game. Sucks at post defense and is on Kanter's level of passing.

Johnson is away ahead of Winslow in terms of floor.. And ceiling. Shouldn't be a conversation.

I think Winslow's floor is something like prime Deshawn Stevenson. His ceiling might be....hmm.... I don't know--maybe a better version of Terrence Ross, or maybe Andre Iguodala. I get nervous now when guys can't shoot.

It seems like the consensus is that the top 4 is Towns, Okafor, Russell and Mudiay. If FOs think that there is a significant dropoff after that and that most of the next 5-6 players are close enough as prospects, do you think whoever picks 5(lets say the Lakers) would be willing to trade that pick for our(lets say #9) + OKC 2017 or GSW2017? Should we do it in order to ensure we get the best of the rest?

"Best of the Rest" is just so subjective though... This year in particular I just think between 5th - 9th there aren't really much in it talent wise... It's just so hard to project how each player will turn out in that 2nd tier.... I really think it comes down to who your team likes the best.

- If a team needs a defensive anchor - take WCS
- If a team needs a scoring wing - you'd probably take Hezonja
- If a team needs an alpha dog - take Johnson
- If a team needs a high character defensive wing - take Winslow
- If you're Sam Hinkie - you'd probably just take a swing at Porzingis

I wouldn't waste the 2017 pick (which is supposed to be a loaded year?) on just moving up a couple of spots when your guy could probably land on your lap anyway depending on how the draft pans out. It's like a game of chicken in a way - who will blink first.

DL by all accounts is just so stingy with giving up assets, he's just so shrewd I cannot see him doing that deal.

I really don't get this idea that he can't shoot, yeah he's had a rough couple games the last few, but overall I think he/Oubre/Winslow are all pretty similar shooters. Shoots FTs the best of the lot, which is something I always like to look at since even an entire college season is kind of a small sample size to compare to the NBA. I've been watching a couple interviews with each of them lately, and they all seem to come across as alright dudes with no glaring weaknesses there. Really like that Oubre at least says he prides himself on his defense, would fit well. Winslow is just really well spoken for a college freshmen. Johnson does have a bit more of the "I'm the man" feel to him, which isn't always a bad deal.

I also wouldn't worry about his D on 2's at the NBA level too much. He's athletic enough to do it, go back and watch the 2014 Hoops Summit and watch him on Mudiay.

I leave in a couple hours heading to Kentucky. Hanging out through the games played at YUM! center (Louisville) then flying back home to watch remaining games, if any.
