Shooters

I think we just have different opinions here and that's okay. I usually prefer players with more than one skill and the "shooter" your describing generally does nothing but shoot. For me being able and willing to put it on the floor is an asset. I would not mind a shooter by your definition but we had that in Novak and because he did nothing else he did not play.

I agree with this line of reasoning. I'd rather have a guy like Hood who will hit 38-40% of his 3's and play good defense than a player who shoots 45% but can't defend on the other end. If we can upgrade to a great "3 and D' player, FANTASTIC!. If not, I like what Hayward, Burks and Hood bring to the table.

Next year, Hood may very well be a better guy to start over Burks since he has more range (I think). And we need that with two interior bigs and a wing (Hayward) who scores more off drives than outside shooting. If Utah can have Hood and Exum hitting 3's like they did against Houston, they'll be tough to beat.

I never meant to suggest that a 3-point shooter that is a liability on defense is a good idea. I just meant that they didn't need to be defensive stopper. Sure would like to have Kyle Korver back now, but that's probably never going to happen now.

Let's ressurect Eddie Johnson or Steve Kerr Jazz killers of yesteryear.

Rodney Hood reminds me a lot of Allan Houston.

I really liked Alan Houston and always wished we could have gotten him. His defense was lackadaisical at times, but his offense was undeniable. If Hood can be 75% of the offensive player Houston was and 2x the defender we will have something truly special.

I would be very happy with this. I was one of the few that really liked his game while he was here and thought letting him go was a big mistake.

I think we all liked his game. The objection I had is when we needed offense down the stretch when we were fighting for a playoff spot and he admitted he was passing up shots to protect his record. That's not a guy you can keep on your team.

"We don't need shooters. We need makers."

If we can somehow walk out of this draft with Hezonja, I think we'll become legit championship contenders.
Would be thrilled if we could get Mario

When was the last time the Jazz drafted a 4th year college player? Morris Almond?

Erick Green in 2013 (traded); Kevin Murphy in 2012; Jeremy Evans in 2010; Eric Maynor and Goran Suton in 2009. Almond was in 2007.

Ok, only Maynor was a 1st rounder besides Almond (I know I didnt say that, but I meant to). Not a great success rate with those dudes. Evans is the best player of the group and he is stuck on the bench.
