Following potential 2015 draftees

Question about trading picks. If Jazz trade up, can they use their 2016 pick or would that be trading 2 1st round picks in a row? Technically they would be trading prospects, and the team they trade up with will be picking for the player right? .

Rule only applies to future picks, so the way around it is to make the pick and then trade the player. Also, Utah has the GS pick unprotected in 2017, so we could actually trade our 16 and 17 picks, if we were so inclined. As long as you have any first rounder, whether it's your own or not, you could trade 2 consecutive picks. If Utah didn't have the GS pick, we wouldn't be able to trade 2 consecutive 1sts. The OKC pick would not allow for that, because of the protection/criteria to receive, it is not known when the pick will be acquired.

Nah I think Frank is more Diaw than Tomic is. Diaw can dribble drive from the perimeter, he just isn't a stationary post/high post passer like Tomic is.

I think it's reasonable to have doubts about Tomic being able to translate to the NBA. If he can't develop some sort of post-game due to his lack of strength then he is going to struggle to do anything he normally does in Europe.

Agreed. Would have rep'd.

Anybody else excited about the prospect of having three (three!) good players added to our roster next year? Burks, Tomic, and draft pick. Zoinks!!

You're forgetting free agency. We could get someone like DMC or Danny Green.

All those new additions plus internal development of the youngest team in the league (that is already proving to be one of the most devastating defensive teams)... The league better watch out.

There's reason to be a little skeptical of how both Frank and Tomic will translate to the NBA, but I'd still be excited about either as our 3rd big.

I agree with Dal that the stationary passing of Tomic from the high and low post would be more useful than Frank's drive and dish game. Passing out of the post is more what Snyder's system incorporates (not that I wouldn't be excited for this aspect of Frank's game).

Ftr, I wouldn't be against adding both Tomic and Kaminsky. If they both fit on the bench, then great. If not, then either would still be a good asset in a trade.

I don't get the insinuation that Kaminsky cannot pass.. he's averaging 2.7 assists this year in 33 minutes. That's compared to Tomic's 2.3 assists in 24 minutes. Not too shabby.

Kaminsky is a willing & improving passer. His assists numbers have improved every year and jumped from 1.3 last year to 2.7 this year. He is also younger than Tomic so you've gotta give him time.

I know Hood has been playing well, but I would trade Hood and our first-round pick to move up for Hezonja, without hesitation. I'd even throw in another pick if I had to.

Look at how Marc Gasol and Noah's passing help solve their teams respective spacing issues.

Close enough. His brother is a better comparison.

I mean your desire to slot bigs who are immobile into wing slots, because their weight will help them navigate screens was ridiculous.
But comparing Gobert + Favors with Duncan and Splitter. That's huge facepalm material. Like you wanna glue your hand onto your face.

If you are willing to actually do that, I'll send $10 to you via PayPal right now.

The difference is not the passing averages, but how the passing is facilitated. Good passing bigs, who can find cutters and stuff bend defenses. You can run so much misdirection crap around that.

Kaminsky is 22. Tomic is 28. To say that Kaminsky will never pass like Tomic is like saying water can never become ice.

Glue that.

The issue is, we alraedy have Tomic's rights. If you can leverage them into RHJ's draft right and you pick Kaminsky at 9-12, I'm fine with that. I just think you're undervalueing what Tomic brings to the table.

This. We add to the team without using any assets. I'd rather the Jazz use their assets to move up and get Hezonjz or Winslow.

I like Mario a lot but that is WAY too much to give up. I do not want to give up Hood.

Breaking: Kevon Looney has just declared for the draft.

Good news as I think the reports were he was on the fence and without a good showing in the tourney.. him declaring should bolster the draft somewhat.
